Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

"Artemis!" Eve calls, Artemis hurrying over.

"Hello! We'd like to see Gaia. I'm one of her children from another reality." Artemis explains, Eve amplifying her voice like a megaphone.

 

After ten minutes of hearing the occasional chirp of a bird or an opening/closing door, the elder peeks out.
"...Any news?"

The chimera lowers its head, taking a few more steps towards Artemis before its head blooms with color.
"I am Gaia."

 

"Oh...you look rather different than my reality's Gaia. N-Not that I'm saying that's a bad thing!" Artemis says, slightly nervous.

 

Gaia nods.
"So, you are the one named Artemis... the exploits of you and your friends are well known." She says, plants rapidly growing into a platform in front of Artemis.
"...Come, I don't like chancing a conversation out here."

 

"Exploits?" Artemis asks, stepping onto the platform. Eve propels herself off the ground with jets of air from her feet, not wanting to burn the plants, aiming to follow Artemis.

 

"Your actions."
Gaia turns to walk off.
"Demon, you can gawk later." She calls as she heads towards the double doors.

 

I teleport over to Eve, following Artemis.

"Oh, right. I thought you meant that negatively." Artemis says.

 

"It's not all positive." Gaia says, heading towards a comparatively tiny vined throne, faeries bowing as she enters her chambers and closes the doors.

 

"I-I'm sorry, Mo-Miss Gaia." Artemis apologizes, worried.

 

Gaia leaves Artemis and Eve in front of the throne before the room fills with a green mist.

A minute later, the mist fades and a human-sized faerie sits on the throne holding a large earthen staff and wearing a crown that levitates above her head like a halo.

"Let's start over, shall we? I am Gaia." She says, lifting her hand as all the fae who were bowing rise all at once.

 

Artemis looks shocked.

"What are you, goddess of the faeries too?" I ask, "We have one of those by the way."

"Uh, excuse him, Miss Gaia," Artemis says, covering my mouth with a vine hand, "He can be a bit disrespectful around people of high power."

"What is your perceived role in the society of those who worship you?" Eve asks.

 

"I serve as faerie queen, though I've tolerated worse from demons."

 

"Hello, Elder Solis. I've come to tell you about the kingdom of Geneson's advances. It seems that they press against your borders, and I think we need to discuss a few things about defense. Do you mind if I step inside?"

 

"Not at all, come in." He says, pushing the door open.

It smells of gryphon, obviously because that's what Solis is. Still, the smell gets to you every time.

 

"Interesting. From my reports, the reality in which I live has a separate goddess to serve your role, despite having a similarly named Gaia; which is what Aj was referring to." Eve says.

"I hope you can excuse me not speaking in faerie, I'm not very fluent in it." Artemis says.

 

"Fae is rarely spoken here. Regardless... I should thank you for your aid."

 

"My friends and I did what we could, we couldn't bear to see another god fall like Xlentia did." Artemis says.

 

"Sir, with the Genesian king so close to your home, this could be a target for his conquests. Would you be adverse to us stationing soldiers in and around the village?"

I say this while sitting down

 

"I appreciate it. I also must commend you for sparing several foes. This violation of individuality caused by the Hive Master is disgusting."

"As of today, I would rather not. With all due respect, I wish not to pressure my people if diplomacy is still on the table."

 

"It wasn't easy, and the totem was just a prototype, but I hope one day we'll be able to find a way to stop the Hive Master's control and save as many people as possible." Artemis says.
