"Well.. she isn't really suggesting anything. I just asked what there was to see on this island and she gave an example."

 

"I suppose you're right... but there's plenty to do outside of creepy underground tunnels, too."

 

"Yeah yeah. I still thinking about going anyway."

 

"Okay, okay... I'll be with you. Just, maybe behind you."

 

"You don't have to if you don't want. Enjoy some free time or something."

 

"What if I want to spend my time with my future husband?"

 

"Than I can't ignore it if that's what you want."
He looks into the portal.
"Think she's done yet?"

 

"She'll probably tell us when she's done." Anne shrugs.

Rema's mostly tidying up at this point, the floor now relatively clean.

 

"I wonder how the pack is doing. We've been away for a few days now."

 

"The Leviathan said he'd check on them. He seems like the kind of nice being who would come back and let us know if anything went wrong."

 

"He probably would, yes."

 

"Let's go, then!" Shadow Stephanie says happily.

"Yes?" Shadow Stephanie asks, turning around.

 

"Uhh, where?"

 

Ruby shivers.
"Uh... I wanted to ask if you'd have mercy on me. I... I want to come clean with you. All the way clean."

"So, if something went wrong, we'd probably know... right?"

 

"Yeah, that's true. In that case I hope everything is fine."

 

"The palace, of course!" Shadow Stephanie says happily.

"Alright?" Shadow Stephanie says, intrigued.

 

"Okay! Once you're done talking with Ruby, I guess."

 

Shadow Stephanie smiles, appreciative.

 

"I... right now..."
Ruby pauses to make sure Abigail can hear and see.
"...Half of Abigail's soul is keeping me alive. I... I didn't want to tell you right away, because you'd just take her and leave me to die..." Ruby admits, tearing up.

"This is for you... Please promise me you'll make me a grave if this doesn't go well for me." Ruby thinks.

"Yeah. Me too."

Rema pokes her head out.
"Okay, I haven't made the extra bed yet, but I've cleaned up pretty much everything else."

 

"So...how do we get you your soul half to exchange for Abigail's?" Shadow Stephanie asks.
