Community Event Help Us Bring Back Armourskins!!! Need Old Sceenshots!

@HackerCat had a brilliant idea to use optifine's mcpatcher features to bring back armour skins with a resource pack!

We will make a few sets ourselves because some of the old ones don't look nice, but it would be nice if we could revive a few of the old ones. We need screenshots, and as many of them as possible that contain any armour skins!

Maby if we get a lot of armour skins done, we could make them for vanilla too for Wynn to use, and this would work the same way that weapon skins work, but on armour! [In optifine you can create config files in your resourcepacks and specify that if an item has a specific name/durability etc it can assign a specific texture, so we made config files that assign a texture to a piece of armour if its name is special]

So go digging and try finding any screenshots that contain armour skins and post them here! The more we get the quicker we can finish this!

i would help but the old endgame armor was the ugliest thing i ever saw

 

I don't like armour skins (personally). It caused me many lag issues and I lost several items because of them. But if it's not for vannilla... Can't u just make a mod that makes custom armour models based on the name of the item? It would be better than skins.

I think it was alright. Definitely not the "ugliest thing I ever saw."

 

They got rid of armour skins because of a complaint by Mojang that accessing the skins files gave access to player passwords.

 

thats why we're mostly doing it for set armour, and maby some exclusives like queen's headpiece or diving helmet, santa, qira etc,

yea we probably wont add anything for endgame-ish armour, but if we do smth for legendaries, the changes wont be massive like for example with qira

 

If I was to get a complain from Mojang where they tell us that what I'm doing lets me access players passwords I would keep doing this till they patch their mistake they are admiting to be having.

Why not just make new skins? We've gotten a over a hundred new items since the armor skin days.

 

as i said, we're making our own ones, but I'd like some more iconic old ones like euphoric fedora or the nether set
