Hay Bale Hell

I have been trying everything I could to get to the blue meteor and past the hay bale puzzle, however no matter what I do, I can't move any of the hay bales even once. I have tried everything I could think of.

Anything I should be doing to move the bales?

They were all dropped on the same server that I tried to use it on. I also try to use them 10 seconds after they drop so I'm not sure that's it as well

 

Try changing version to 1.8.9, one of my teammates was struggling with that problem
and changing version worked

 

I've found that it requires movement while against a block. The only way that I could move it is by moving either side to side while against it or by jumping on the edge of it. Either way, I completed it
