I visit the city's tavern.

 

Dez:"Sorry if this seems like a dumb question but, by forge you mean your parents are blacksmiths or is it a town?"

OOC:I noticed that Leon has a special ability so can all the players choose some sort of ability that fits the charactar?

 

Eradius: "Reptilian."

 

Do any of them look... pickpocketable?

I might be taking this whole "greedy rogue" thing too far...

 

Entering the familiar doors of literally the only tavern in town, you two see a bunch of men crouched around the door. They're clearly cultists without their robes, something similar about all their faces, but it looks like there was supposed to be an ambush and you guys weren't their target. Recognizing that, they slink back a little, letting you pass.

Might I stress that you have musical mind control abilities. Also, Leon's extremely overpowered as is.
*sigh*. Well, as long as you have an actually decent and justifiable backstory, I might look things over. However, it has to actually inspire emotion and character behind it.

Boy: "It's a big *Sniff* big city up the river by a giant mine... All the *Sniff* all the best blacksmiths live there... but the air *sniff* but the air is always smoky and it smells bad everywhere."

Petmaster: "Hmm... We have quite a few lizards, ranging from shoulder-size to mounts. I'd assume you'd prefer the upper range. There's also some turtles and that extremely expensive portable crocodile we have."

They're a large group of armed people.
By default, they look like they'd gut you alive.

Still, there's no such thing as too far.
well yes there is but this is escapism so whatever

 

Lazarus: "Seems nothing is here."

I'll head further up the stairs, I guess.

 

I walk away and look for people who seem more... pickpocketable. That's probably going to become Thorston's main character trait...

 

Eradius: "What do you mean by portable alligator? And yes a mount would be good."

 

Leon: "Greetings, beings."

Are there any characters there?

 

Tbh I didn't want I for combat so can dez just for flavor have gecko like scales it doesn't give me more combat abilities , but lets say that you allowed this, that for me gives a chance to give dez a bit of backstory for example. All about music is entertaining the crowd and a color changing lizardman would definetly be something new and that might give dez some more money preforming then lets say an ordinary human that just plays an instrument or sings. Of course dez still would preform for fun, but only if the crowd big.

Dez:"Yes that does sound pretty bad for a growing kid. So there's just 2 simple things I've forgot to ask you, what's your name and what's your fathers name?"

 

Petmaster: "It's a crocodile that you can grow and shrink at will with a headband. Needless to say, a beast connected to a magic item of that caliber is extremely expensive. As for mounts, we have a Dire Basilisk and saddle, but there's the problem in that its species has a habit of murdering roughly one in three riders. If you want to go insane with it anyway, it's 150 Gold Coins."

Yes, if you count Robert, but I don't think that's what you intended by the question. No as for everyone else.

The group recoils at your voice, apparently frightened into submission by the boom and strange tone. They scramble without even replying.
How rude.
Of course, this is nothing compared to a cry of indignation that comes out of a voice by the bar. A man in a green cloak who owns waay too many knives is looking down into his coin purse, apparently empty. He looks at a man next to him, a man with a hand full of gold coins.
"Hey! you nicked my gold!"
Before anyone can intervene, more people have gotten involved and the situation has degraded into a massive tavern brawl. The lady bartender is just standing behind all this with a very concerned look.

Hmm.. this actually sounds somewhat reasonable. You'd still better probably PM me a full explanation of where a lizardman got color-changing powers.

The kid's speaking remarkably coherent now.
Kid: "Owen... Owen Jackson. My pa's is Ulysses."

The only people really in the street at this point are poor commoners, heavily armed travelers, and a rich guy with bodyguards every so often. It's at this point that a large scream comes out of the tavern behind you, soon followed by sounds of violence.

 

I'm upset that this is my first time seeing this!

Anyway, 10/10 best meme, generic fantasy.

Also, 11/10 use of Inkarnate. B/c who DOESN'T love inkarnate. It's amazing, and it's free

 

Too bad there's no easy undo option.

Yes, that's my one complaint.

we fastforword to the tavern unless something interupts us

Petmaster: "150 Gold Coins, anywhere from pocket-size to 30 feet long."

Yeah they're completely ignoring you. It appears violence takes precedent over frightening otherworldly voices.
By this point, at least 3/4 of the tavern has gotten to brawling.

It appears that the conversation ended just as you reached the tavern.
However, all is not well. Sounds of a brawl can be heard from inside.

 

BTW, I have an idea for Thorston's backstory.

Anyway, is there anywhere I could get mercenary work?
