Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

Voidfiller uses the cords to spring backwards, then to spring forwards again and whack the nearest draconian with his shield anyways.

 

They get knocked face-first into the ground, paralysing spores flying up and numbing Voidfiller a bit.

 

"It's because of Hallow's Eve. It's a pretty common thing, just don't let them bite you, you'll get a nasty infection," Vexa says, "Other than that they're mostly friendly."


I glance around at what remains, before looking for any signs of Gaia.

"Uh, Katie? Can we get somewhere where there's more draconians to test this on? We want to save as many as possible after all." Stephanie shouts.

Katie retracts her boxing glove and brings the walls into the tower, sprouting four large legs and pulling the tower up from the ground, sluggishly moving around in search of an army of draconians.

 

He got scared, but he acts as if nothing happened.
*cough*

 

"This happens every year?" Ruby asks, considering going out and talking to one.


There's visibly a much larger battle going on over the horizon, but it's a fair walk away across the razed forest.

The draconians try to follow, but the spores seem to be getting the best of them as they start to just collapse.

There's another group now coming after the tower. What is this, some hellish tower defense game?

"Hahahahaaaaa! I goooot youuuu!" Anne says in a singsong voice.

 

The cords spring back Voidfiller again as he takes his time, waiting and looking around.

 

"Pretty much. The spirits of the dead find their corpses." Vexa says.


Katie notices me surveying the area.

"Hey Aj, we could use some help with transport!" Katie shouts to me.

"Hm? Oh, sure thing." I say, drawing in as much darkness as possible before changing to my larger form, gently picking up Katie's tower and walking towards the larger battle.

 

Another group is coming towards the tower from the east, but Aj seems to be attracting attention...

Ruby approaches one, keeping some distance.
"...Hello?"


Your giant size winds up attracting another five groups, all rushing in.

Stephanie's faced with a dilemna; if it can't relieve the mind control off all, they'll likely butcher the draconians who would otherwise be saved.

 

"Hello." A zombie air guardian says, smiling with a rotten face.


I put the tower down in the middle of the groups, before changing back to my smaller form and falling onto the tower.

"Uh, guys, I'm going to need a little more time!" Stephanie shouts, summoning a few large mage crystals to add power to the totem, linking them up as fast as she can.

"Brilliant." I say flatly as I jump down and possess one of the draconians, Katie creating four large walls to split up the groups.

 

He claps his hand, sarcasticly.
"Well done.."

 

"Uh... I'm not used to seeing sentient undead. Do you have a name, or...?"


At this point, Katie's growing tired from maintaining all of the ice...

Stephanie probably should think this through a bit earlier... the totem won't be able to contain all of the energy from the crystals safely. She'll need to time its activation for it to work now...

The draconian you possess is eviscerated, two of the groups leaping up and flying at the totem directly, arrows and bolts let fly at both tower and totem.
Rineth comes in and distracts one group, but that distraction won't last forever. Fortunately, the group that Linoa hits with artillery probably will be staying down.

"Oh, come on. It's all for fun..." She protests.

 

"Sylvia." The zombie says, offering a handshake with a rather boney hand.


Katie uses what energy she has left to turn the tower inside out, creating a thick dome of ice to try and buy as much time as possible.

Stephanie tries her best to get the totem to a point where it can work properly without exploding the crystals as fast as she can.

I fly up toward the projectiles being fired at Katie's ice dome and start rapidly switching between them, looking like I'm teleporting as I dart from projectile to projectile to knock it back to it's firer.

 

Ruby accepts it cautiously.
"...If you don't mind me asking, why are there so many of you right now? It's just... sort of bizarre."


The dome holds fairly well, slowing the projectiles enough to keep the totem untouched.
Just a few more moments...

You can't block all of them in broad daylight with fire raging off to the side, but you can put down half of the projectiles... albeit only one killed.

 

Crystal moves around the tower to fend off draconians while Voidfiller takes a small break.

 

"Oh, the world of the living and the world of the dead have been drawing a lot closer recently. Some of us have been able to find our old bodies and bring them back to life for a bit." Sylvia says happily.


Stephanie pushes herself to try and get the totem as stable as possible, exhausting some of her own supply of magic for the totem and crystals.

I continue blocking projectiles through the exhaustion of the fire, determined.

 

"...Have any of you tried to meet up with old family members?"


Success. Totem overclocked.

You're going to be sore after this, that's for sure... Seems Stephanie's finally ready, though.

They don't seem to pay him much mind, though the few that take a few swings at him don't anticipate his malleable traits.

 

"Most people do, but I think my parents were buried somewhere else." Sylvia says.


Stephanie activates the totem, creating a huge field encapsulating the draconians and (hopefully) negating any mind control and psychic abilities, Stephanie adding her own power to the totem to keep it running for as long as possible.

 

Crystal keeps distracting them as Voidfiller stops resting and starts flying.

 

"I'm sorry to hear that... have any of you tried to come back to life for good, or no?"


Something backfires... the totem puts out its field which seems to achieve its task, but it winds up knocking Stephanie out before the field collapses.
Plus side, you've got four groups of freed draconians, only half of which are conscious.
Of course, none of them know where they are.

The field bursts out, seeming to return emotion to the draconian's eyes as they all stumble over each other and collapse.
Voidfiller notices Stephanie get knocked out by what seems to be some kind of short-circuiting magic burst.

 

He chuckles.
"So how are the rabbits getting along? Found any?"
