Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

Vexa picks up a ruby, before neatly making patterns in the cooling gold-coloured hilt and putting the ruby in place.


"Channel that power! Eliminate those that killed you before!" I shout in their mind.

Katie's tickled by the shockwaves a bit, but doesn't let that distract her. Katie starts making the ground wet, before freezing it to make it slippery.

 

The portal flashes open.
The pair find themselves next to an icy wall splitting them from the ice tower. There seems to be a one-winged draconian trying to scale the wall.

Ruby keeps quiet, slipping out of the back room.


They flutter about before seeming to get it together. At least, enough to satisfy you.
"F-for mommy Gaia..." They cry, zipping around the ice tower.
You may want to tell them not to electrify the water, because they're getting dangerously close to the tower.

Icy ground seems to not bother creatures with clawed feet too much.
One particularly bold draconian launches themself up towards the totem, only to get shocked by a fairy that's zipping around.

 

Voidfiller and Crystal rush through, Voidfiller flying up to locate Artemis.

 

She seems to be in the ice tower, the one-winged draconian hurling a javelin at Voidfiller.

 

"Heading to bed?" Vexa asks, not looking up.


"That water contains a valuable ally. Do not electrocute it, or you'll harm a friend." I say calmly.

Katie uses one of her ice hands to punch the draconian, attempting to send them flying.

 

Voidfiller ticks and dives to avoid the javelin, Crystal quickly using the ground the rise up and stick the draconian in the wing with his spear.

 

"...I haven't seen a sunset in a long time." Ruby says, looking out of the shop and waiting.


"O-okay..."
While she zips around, you notice that Crystal, some amorphous being, and a one-winged draconian are fighting on the other side of the ice wall.

They get knocked back and knocked out, the others readying their weapons to fight against the ice hand.
The faerie seems to be able to clip a good eight before being little more than a nuisance.

The draconian, coughing up blood, turns and slugs Crystal as he forgets about Voidfiller.

 

Crystal shifts around the hit, only to shift onto the draconian, enveloping and choking them while restraining and squeezing.

Voidfiller heads over to Artemis, analyzing the situation.

 

The sunset turns the sky a reddish-orange, the sun hazy as it sets.


I try to figure out who they beings with Crystal are before the faerie's vision loses track of them.

The other three ice hands come to assist the one, all four turning into flipped birds before a bit more water rushes to them, freezing them into boxing gloves raring to get punching.

 

Ruby just watches silently, sharing her vision with Abigail.
"...Thought that maybe you'd like to share my first sunset with me." She thinks.


You can't manage.
The faerie winds up lightning-rodding an attack from a draconian, causing them to just drop out of the air.

A draconian fires a thunderbolt at the tower, but the bolt seems to get absorbed by the faerie that's zipping around.

They choke on blood, eyes suddenly showing terror as they begin to stop moving.

Katie's ice boxing hands seem to be about the last line of defense against a dozen draconians who are slowed immensely by spores and snares.

 

Crystal stops out of fear, freezing their body to hold them to the pillar, releasing them and looking down.

Voidfiller summons a mace and flies by, giving the nearest draconian to Katie a good whack on the head.

 

"I forgot how beautiful they were." Abigail says.

A memory of sitting on a beach with Katie watching a sunset flashes through Ruby's mind, Katie smiling before getting up and running into the ocean, laughing.


"Excellent work. You're doing well, chosen one." I say appreciatively.

Katie beats her icy gloves together before socking the draconian in the face, body, mostly everywhere with a huge glove made of solid ice.

 

They cough and sputter blood, gasping for air.

This knocks them out cold, a few others raising their weapons to guard against future attacks.

Ruby smiles, standing near the door until it gets dark.


She groans, wings flittering but unable to get off the ground again.

Two down, ten to go.
The glove is cut a bit by an axe swing, but it's so big that the damage isn't super serious.

 

Crystal, a little freaked out, makes a pocket made of ice for them, then proceeds to search for more draconians.

Voidfiller summons two metal grinders, flying behind the group to put them in between him and Katie.
He then runs the grinders, creating a loud screeching sound.

 

He looks at the fox and slowly continues.

 

As nighttime falls and the moon rises, Ruby can see a few odd figures moving sluggishly past the shop.


I decide to offer some help, making the faerie's wings much larger and giving them some more energy.

Katie brings the glove back for repair, using the remaining three to sock whoever cut it thrice.

 

As you continue, Anne jumps out at you from a bush.
"Boo!"

This seems to put one of them in a panic, the others just trudging on.

Ruby tries to get a better look at them through night vision.


No good... seems she's spent.

They cut into each of the other three gloves before getting knocked back into the amorphous creature's brutal grinders.

The totem should be just about ready.

 

Voidfiller de-summons the grinders, making what looks to be cords that attach him to the ground, then charging the group with a disc-shield in hand.

 

They look to be a guardian, but something about their oddly tinted skin is offputting.


I decide to take a quick trip back to the Realm of Shadows, ordering emergency treatment for the faerie before leaving her and jumping back into the battle. The doctors in the Shadow Palace's medical ward immediately see to healing the faerie's wounds.

Katie combines the damaged four gloves into one massive repaired one, keeping as many draconians away as possible.

Stephanie gives it a little more charge to make sure it's fully charged, worried about it malfunctioning.

 

Ruby glances inside.
"Hey, boss? Is it just me, or do you guys have some sort of zombie apocalypse scenario going on here right now?"


She heals slowly, and by the time you return, the battle seems to just about be over.

The anorphous being pretty much guarantees that the draconians are going nowhere...

Fortunately, it seems she has time. Less than ten subjects stand before the tower for its first test... hopefully it doesn't blow up.

Stephanie seems to be finishing up messing around with the totem. It may be a good idea to check if killing is the goal here, since Katie's spared the draconians left crawling towards the tower.
