Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

Vexa seems to be hammering a white-hot blade on the anvil.


"We've got a group moving in, prepare yourselves," I call, pointing toward the direction the force is coming in, "How's that totem coming Steph?"

"All things seem to be primed for it's intended purpose, though I need more time to charge it." Stephanie says.

Katie readies a few high-pressure shots toward the oncoming force as Artemis prepares vine traps designed to drag their victims into the ground.

 

"What kind of weapon is this?"


Linoa glances down from her scope.
"We've got two artillery corps on us, and I can only neutralize one. One's north, one's east. Pick your poison." She shouts.

The group coming south puts a barrier up, a familiar face within their ranks...

"H-hey, Aj? I might have to sit this one out..." Ihra says nervously.

 

He whistles some more before he leaves the bird alone and heads further into the forest.

 

"Just a sword." Vexa says.


"North!" I shout, Katie shifting her water south and firing it toward the barrier, spreading it across the barrier before freezing it; turning the barrier against them.

"What's up, Ihra?" Artemis asks, nocking three arrows at once.

 

You notice some little ramps and structures made from fallen branches and moss, the occasional fox visible.

"Type?"


"Then send someone north!"

The ice seems to incorporate itself into the barrier.
"...They have, like, me... but not me."

 

"Longsword." Vexa says as she hammers.


"Why can't you fight her?" Artemis asks.

I dart north, looking for the approaching enemy.

 

"For?"


North, there's two draconians holding bows similar to Linoa's and a third acting as a lookout.
"Bail!" The lookout shouts, the three of them splitting up and fleeing.

"I mean... it might be better if we both occupy ourselves. You know... it'd be like fighting an enemy which got all boosted like I do to you."

 

"Sale in the shop. I haven't got any custom requests recently." Vexa says.


I decide to possess one of the draconians, testing out the weight of their bow.

"I think we need to defend Katie's tower. If we can get the psychic negation totem working, we'll save ourselves a lot of effort." Artemis says, aiming her bow at the barrier and commanding her risen dead to attack it.

 

"I hope I can help turn that around. Maybe I can bear parting with a few other samples that I made ages ago... My sister should have eight more."


The bow weighs as much as a cannon, but their body seems to slow and only respond to your commands as the others make it out of sight.

Ihra nods, then vanishes with the barrier.
"The draconians utterly disintegrate the undead.

 

"It's fine, one is enough." Vexa says happily.


I try my best to head south, determined before simply stopping the draconian's heart and stealing their bow, running back south.

Artemis begins firing toward the draconians, growing vine hands below some of them and grabbing them tightly, before spinning them around in an attempt to knock the other draconians down.

"Stephanie!" Artemis shouts nervously.

"Working on it!" Stephanie shouts.

 

"...Maybe an exhibition? Show it off to attract attention? I dunno how guardians operate." Ruby shrugs.


The bow seems to have a visor attached by a cord, clunking around a bit as you go.

The vine grabs one draconian who phases out of its grasp, and the others are immolated in a now-approaching wall of fire.
Time for Katie to go on the offensive, it seems.

 

"We make repairs or new weapons, though some advertisement for the shop wouldn't hurt." Vexa says.


I put the visor on, curious.

Four icy hands statically grow out from Katie's ice tower, before pointing toward the wall of fire. High pressure jets of water fire toward the wall of fire from two hands, while the remaining pair appear to be creating a massive ball of water.

 

"I'm getting ahead of myself, anyways. Sorry about that."


It gives your vision an overlay, a red dot wherever you point the bow. It happens to be near your feet.
"CHANCE OF VAPORIZATION: 99.9%" Is visible on the top left corner.

The wall of fire diminishes, and the draconians thin their ranks in order to minimize the literal splash damage potential of the water ball.

 

"It's fine." Vexa says, smiling as she picks up the white-hot blade without hesitation, taking it over to the icy pool and dunking it in.


A smirk, running back until some draconains are in view.

Katie continues to add water to the large ball, before rapidly spinning it. Katie sends the ball of water spinning around the draconians, trying to absorb as many draconians into it as possible before freezing it solid.

 

Ruby glances at the water.
"Fire, earth, and what? It's strange seeing my first hybrid guardian have more than two elements."


The visor seems to force your visor to center on the dot... even if you point it skywards.
The further away from you it gets, the lower the counter in the corner gets, eventually turning to "CHANCE OF USER DEATH: 10%"

She freezes five draconians which don't swim out of the ice.
Cryo elementals. At least she's thinning the ranks...

Arrows and bolts of magic fly at the tower.

 

"I'm just fire and earth," Vexa says, steam hissing from the water as Vexa takes a now cooled blade and slightly burnt looking hand from the icy pool, "Tribrid guardians are extremely rare. A few people have rumored a guardian with even four elements, but there's no real proof of them."


I aim the bow forwards, looking around for any notable enemies to chance a shot at.

Katie uses the recently-frozen draconian as a shield against the arrows and magic while Artemis grows a few large trees in front of the tower, attempting to reverse the directions of the arrows if they have wood in them, otherwise picking them up and firing them back.

Crystal steps into Xlentia's chambers, looking around, while Voidfiller slinks behind him.

 

"Huh... has there ever been, like, an omni guardian?"


You find the ice tower.
"CHANCE OF USER DEATH: 3%"

The ice shield doesn't block all of the arrows, but keeps the magic at bay. A few dozen arrows punch through the tower, leaving Artemis just a few to fire back...
As she nocks the arrow, it seems to prime. Seems that it was an explosive arrow that didn't properly prime...

The draconians try to spread and encircle the tower, slowly drawing closer... onto the paralyzing spores, which thins their numbers by about half.

Xlentia seems exasperated, her chamber and gold pile a chewed up wreck that no longer resembles a pile as she watches an ice tower from a one-way-view portal.

 

"Woah."
Voidfiller comments before Crystal speaks up.
"Hey, what's going on?"

 

She glances over.
"Ohh... just a rough day, sweetheart. Do you two need any help with anything?" She asks, sounding a bit flustered.
