Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

"I... am a bit impartial to family, yes. Your father told me he had a child, and he hated you enough to leave you with his curse. I may be sinister, but what is unfair is unfair."

 

"I-I'm not sure what to do!" Zeri says, panicking slightly.

 

It absorbs very little, Ihra getting blasted towards the dark hand. She tries to snag some extra energy from the darkness.

Xlentia freezes up, smug face turning to fear.

 

"He didn't hate me, did he? I mean.."
*sigh*
"Did he use his powers the way he should have used them?"

 

The hand grabs Ihra, crushing her before it freezes, Zeri darting around and moving the clawed fingers to free Ihra.

Lux prepares another shot, aiming it at Xlentia's head again.

 

“Freeze Lux, he’s got the gun.”
I say, still calm, and following and helping her.

 

"No, which is why I cursed him. However, he turned on me... so I agreed to pass them down to you. I hope you can pardon me, but... your lineage is why you are able to use magic and be healed so easily."

Xlentia stares down the barrel.
"Pull it, bastard."

The darkness notices traces of Ihra seeking out its consciousness.

 

"So he got cursed. Then later he turned on you and I got the cursed lycanthrope powers. But I don't understand how I got my healing and magic abilities, are they part of the lycanthrope curse? Because I never used any of that kind of magic."

 

"Because you've got blood of magic creatures in your veins. Lycanthropy is not a curse, it's something you're born with."

 

"Oh yeah. The blue wyvern told me how my abilties were 'dormant' while I was a kid. And being a magic creatures I automatically have those magic and healing abilties?"

 

"You are capable of using them, but you'd have to learn how to use them."

 

"Say hello to my erased child for me, you disgusting false god." Lux says, finger pulling back the trigger before he's interrupted.

"D-Dad? Mum?" A young twilight boy asks, standing near to Xlentia, about three quarters her size.

"Dad, w-what are you doing? I-I've really missed you! Don't you remember me?" The twilight boy asks.

Lux pauses, lowering his gun slightly.

"I-Is that r-really you?" Lux asks.

"What's mum doing, dad? Why are you pointing that gun at the dragon? I-I've been lost somewhere I don't remember, but I got brought back, and I was directed here." The twilight boy says innocently.

The darkness around the ceiling and walls comes to a center point in the room, the eyes, hands and mouth disappearing as it forms a wounded Tenebrae.

"Mum!" The twilight boy says, holding his hands out to Tenebrae, who smiles, tears running down her face as she runs over to give the child a hug.

Lux drops his gun, pushing Xlentia out of the way as he runs over to the twilight boy, hugging him.

"I-It's really you, isn't it? O-Our missing child." Tenebrae says.

"Yeah, it's me! I've missed you so much." The twilight boy says, keeping Tenebrae and Lux distracted as Mortius appears behind them. Mortius brings back his scythe, before running it through the pair of them in a single swipe. The gods stand there for a moment, shocked, before collapsing. The pair explode into wisps of darkness and light respectively as they hit the ground, the wisps fading shortly afterward.

 

"That seems fair."
Pause. Then he gives a big smile at Rema.
"Oh, one more thing.."

 

Xlentia chokes, collapsing as Ihra falls from the dark wisps.

"That's... brutally effective." Virei'tus comments.

She hesitates.
"...Yes?"

 

"Can I call you grandma now?" He laughs.

 

She smiles.
"I'd rather you keep that our little secret. I'm not very popular, you know."

 

"It had to be done..." The twilight boy says, turning into Gaia as she removes a helmet with a mic attached, "It was them, or Xlentia."

 

"They... they aren't dead, are they?" Virei'tus asks, catching Ihra with an orb of light.

 

"Understood, Rema."
He looks behind him at the portal.
"So... can we head back now, I don't know what to do."
(Was Anne with me actually? She wasn't, right?)

 

"Yes, and no," Gaia says, disappointed, "They were killed, so they no longer have any influence over anything, yet their spirits remain, incapacitated, so that the universe may stay in balance. They shall return, in time."
