Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

"Bardock, and my beloved Anne. I seek help."

 

I gather the cards, getting them in my hand and shuffling them. Just like before, I show Ihra that they’re mixed by facing the cards up and combing through them.
“The fourth card is visible while I’m doing this. Once you cut the deck, I just ‘predict’ the fourth card of the part you took off of the top.”

 

"...Do you seek help, or knowledge?"

"Oooh... so, you memorize what the cards are near where I cut?"

 

"Uh.. well. I have the lycanthrope curse on me and I need help controlling it. So maybe a bit of both if possible?"

 

“Well, I could, because I’m a robot, but you usually just remember the fourth card from the bottom, from this perspective.”
I say, combing through the cards until I get to that card, which happens to be a ten of clubs.
“Then, when you flip it over, that’s fourth from the top.”
I say, straightening the deck and flipping it over, showing that the ten is indeed fourth from the top.
“Then, you cut the deck.”
I do so, taking about a third off the top and placing it next to the other stack.
“Now you know that the fourth card on the part you took off the top is a ten, and then fake that you can tell what it is based off of the other fourth card.”

 

"Do you require assistance, Ihra?" Gaia asks.

 

"Let's start with knowledge, shall we? Come deeper."

"Huh... that's clever."
Pause.
"...What other tricks can you do?"

"I want to know how things are coming with Lux. Everything's prepped for the worst over here..."

 

"Thank you."
He walks deeper into the cave.

 

As you walk deeper, dim lights line the path down.
"You call your lycanthropy a curse... and you are correct, in a sense. Tell me... do you remember who your parents were?"

 

"Temporus has sent assistance over, though Lux appears to be a lot slower than we were expecting." Gaia says.

 

"How does Lady Tenebrae fare?"

 

"We're uncertain, we haven't seen or heard from her since she left the meeting." Gaia says.

 

"...If they both strike, we can't hold up over here."

 

"It has been to long to even remember a face. So I fear I don't remember them."
He looks down to the ground.
"But I know they were good people."

 

"That is what we fear, Caelia should be sending some of her own assistance too though, and Mortius has agreed to send a few of his hell creatures to assist with protection of people like you." Gaia explains.

 

"You are right about one... your mother was a good person."
Pause.
"But... do you remember anything of your father?"

She tries linking with you.

 

"Hello?" I respond.

 

"...Are you in the Realm of Shadows?"

 

"No, I'm still with Praecantatia. She's sort of keeping us trapped here, since she said it's too dangerous to venture out in case Lux or Tenebrae does anything radical," I say, "She didn't appreciate the joke I made of the pair of them being cool."

 

"Look, Aj... I appreciate you trying to lighten the mood. I want to lighten the mood...but right now? My life and Xlentia's life is at risk... and I don't feel too good about dying right after our reunion."
