Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

Onyx stays near to Ihra as she rests, purring lightly in her sleep.

 

"Yeah.. I don't want that. I'll stay away from her."

 

"Okay... now what?" Ihra asks, a bit distracted by the colors of the cards.

Ihra smiles, reaching out to Gaia telepathically.
"...Hello?"

"Good call... and good luck. Don't inhale any toxins." The guards warn.

Anne peeks into the cave, a bit intimidated.

 

I put the cards back into a neat stack, putting them on the ground.
"Now, cut the deck, but just put the part you take on the ground instead of underneath the other part."

 

Ihra takes a third of the deck and puts it on the ground next to the rest of the deck.

 

"Alright, now, based of the fourth card in this pile,"
I point to the larger stack.
"I'll tell you the fourth card in this pile."
I point to the stack that Ihra took off the top, then start looking at the fourth card in the second pile and thinking.

 

"Toxins? What happens when I do by accident?"

 

"You hope the sorcerers have an antidote." The guards shrug.
Anne backs out of the cave, put-off.

"...How? Aren't they different cards?"

 

"How deep is the cave? I don't know if I can hold my breath long enough."
He looks at the dragons, nervous.

 

"Extremely. There shouldn't be many toxins, though. Rema's the only one who doesn't try and control them."

 

"Oh, okay. Be sure to tell me when you notice any of it."
He mans up. Ready to go.
"Okay. Let's go."

 

"We won't be going in."
"Oh, thanks. That's a vote of confidence." Anne grumbles.
"We've only ever had two incidents. You should be fine."

Anne sighs, hopping on your shoulder.

 

"If we're not going inside the cave, then where are going?"

 

“Unless you made a weird deck of cards, they sure are.”
I say, putting the four cards down.
“Fourth card in the smaller pile is a jack of spades. Care to check?”
I offer, smiling.

 

"You are, not us." The guard says.
"Come on, we may as well go in now." Anne sighs.

She looks at the fourth card in the smaller pile, curious.

 

It’s a jack of spades.
“Was I right?”

 

"...How did you do that?!" She asks, smiling.

 

“Do you want to try and figure it out or should I just tell you?”

 

"I guess..."
He slowly walks in, looking out for the toxins if he can even see them.

 

"I mean... bah, just tell me!"

The cave is kept clean, the floor polished and the roof of the cave smooth.
"...Who enters?" Someone asks from below.
