As a cultist of Orcus, once per short or long rest he can make a DC 10 CON cave when reduced to 0 hp to be reduced to 1 instead

 

So is there nothing any of us can do to stop him?

I never spoke for either of them. Also, your description implied that he had full HP. If you had described him as looking like he was at 1 hp, I would have acted differently.

Yeah, I guess I implied he was not weakened by it. I wanted to be descriptive, and could figure out how to make him look very much alive but also weak at the same time.
