Serious Motivation

You know that little thing in the back of your head that lets you do things you don't want to do, like homework, as well as things you like, such as gaming? That's your motivation. Sometimes it's the only thing that keeps you going sometimes. I seem to lack that for most things. Motivation can push you to do great things, while I don't want to do any of those. I want to just not do any of these things, and just lie on my back and stare at the ceiling.

This used to be a huge problem for me. I wasn't motivated to do schoolwork, hang out with friends, or take care of myself. Then, during the summer, I snapped. I realized what was going on, and then I made a conscious effort to fix myself. I began to shower more regularly, because I had even lost the motivation to stand still for 5 minutes every day. I talked to more people. I got a job. I pulled myself out of a figurative gutter into a slightly cleaner area. I'm not perfect yet, but I'm finally motivated to do things again. Like, for example, make this very thread. I wish I could end this on some soulful advice, but this is just for me to deal. Stuff like this gets me out of bed in the morning. You guys motivate me to do more, and I can't thank you enough for it.

How are your schooldays 13 hours!? I thought my 8 hours was long.

I know this feeling too where you say to yourself but then you don't do it and watch stupid YouTube videos all day.

 

lol it also takes me 2 hours to go or come back from school so add +4 hours

 

There's a lot of people like you with VERY similar cases some worse and some not as bad

I'm glad people agree with this speech whatever, but don't just read this and be done with it. Go looking for what makes you happy. Do what you want. when you want. The best thing I've ever done for myself is take a break from something. Just try to be happy, and don't try to impress people (unless they're super hot)

 

Honestly, motivation is pretty overrated. Don't get me wrong, being motivated is good and all, but most of the time it's not enough to get you to do everything you have to do because it's really inconsistent. Discipline is what gets you through hours and hours of work, waiting for the right mood to arrive won't get you very far. The fact that you're finally feeling productive (good job by the way!) probably has more to do with you being more disciplined than before and that's what will help you through your assignments etc, which will help you get a lot more done than just being motivated!

 

it was kinda just a snap decision. Basically me realizing that 'wow, my life style is pretty shit,' and doing something about it

it's basically half and half
