"Because I allowed him to, so I could at least meet you." The god says, a slight hint of dishonesty in his voice.

 

He patiently waits.
"She'll be back. I know she will. Just when we were in the centaur village. She's just talking with the Phoenix."
He cools of some more and looks outside every now and then to see if he spots Anne.

 

Sivius draws his rapier, otherwise silent.
"...Don't lie to me."

Three hours later, still no sign of her as the sun begins to set.

 

"Your threats are hollow to me, though you do deserve the whole truth," The god says, "I exist across all timelines, not unlike most other people, though unlike them, there is no timeline where I do not exist in some way. I may not be a being within it, but I do exist. Unlike most other people, I am myself across the other timelines. Whereas your girlfriend from another timeline might not recognize you, I am always myself, because every me on another timeline is me. Therefore, by meeting you, I have allowed the creation of a timeline wherein I have found a way to stop you from being a threat to me, and therefore, I can prevent you from being a threat to me anymore should you begin to act."

 

"That in and of itself is a paradox. You simply would remain without a body on my timeline."

 

"It may appear to be a paradox to you, but if I, the God of Time, were a paradox, would I be here right now?" The god asks.

 

"Yes, just as I am standing before you."

 

"Yet the difference between us is belonging. I exist here, while you exist elsewhere." Temporus says.

 

"Correct... almost. You know what I am, no?" He says, sheathing his blade.

 

"No, not yet." Temporus says.

 

"I am an illegitimate being. I belong nowhere."

 

"A hole in time." Temporus says, intrigued.

 

"Perhaps. However, I also didn't come here to let you study me."

 

"The fact I haven't prevented you from taking action yet is evidence I have not." Temporus says, sounding laid back.

 

"How would you, if I am beyond your domain?"

 

"I am not sure, which is the main reason I see you as a threat in the first place, though perhaps it is the reason why I haven't stopped you." Temporus says, still sounding calm.

 

"Okay, something is wrong."
He goes outside and climbs the volcano, searching for Anne.
"Anne?!"

 

"That is something I cannot fix. My only vow is that I will obey these blades. They do not will your torment, so I will leave you be as far as I am aware."

There's a bit of lava slowly running down the side of the volcano.

 

"Oh god, I feel like someone is angry. That lava can't be a good sign."

 

"I am surprised you let your power be controlled by others instead of using it yourself, but I respect that," Temporus says, "Speaking of which, if you ever find my pocket watch, I'd very much like it returned. I lost it a long time ago, and I've seen the ramifications of that time and time again."
