"If you wish, I can help weed out the most desperate. The irreversibly wounded, tortured orphans, and the like."


She puts it on.

 

"That would help." Solus says.


Emerald blacks out again, before coming to in her most recent memory of walking in to tell Praecantatia she was ready, time frozen again.

"Try to remember what you wanted to remember." Praecantatia says.

 

"I will see what I can do. Are you picky about what race comes in?"


It blacks out again, before showing Tenebrae and Lux for a brief moment, then a child of twilight confronting Xlentia.
"His name... his name eludes me. I know he exists, and I know I'm the only one..." She says. "I also know he was erased from all memory. But... who are those two creatures at the beginning?" Emerald rambles on, thinking harder.

 

The royal pair shake their heads.


"Those were the Gods of Light and Darkness, Tiff- uh, Tenebrae and Lux." Praecantatia says.

 

"Okay. Well, to begin with, would you mind caring for my headless sister?"


"...They forgot their child."
Crelucium is shown cracking, a decay tablet visible as he vanishes.

 

"Sure, what sort of care does she require?" Lielia asks.


"They...had a child?" Praecantatia asks.

 

"Feeding, and some sort of mitigation for her hypersensitivity. Right now, if anyone in the same building takes a step, she can tackle them in less than a second."


"...Yes. Their name... ah, Crelucium. That was it. I'm sure of it."

 

"We'll see what we can do." Solus says, smiling.


Praecantatia opens up her text document again, making some more notes.

 

"Uhm... would it bother you if I left through a portal straight to the other reality? I'm not an archmage like my other sister..." Sapphire says, a bit nervous.


"...That's it. Just what he looked like, and his name... wait. The Hive Master warned us of him. He said that decay was necessary."

 

"We can have someone escort you out before you do." Lielia says, a servant hurrying over and opening a one-way portal to Earth.


Praecantatia quickly types up her notes as she watches and listens.

 

"Could you permit me to return? I would need to bring in one of my weapons to keep her from getting jumpy. You don't dislike snakes, do you?"


Emerald struggles, but manages to pull up an image of Alice slitting her throat before giving up.

 

"Thanks. Really appreciate it."

 

"Not at all. We'll set up a private portal system between yours and our world." Solus says.


Emerald blacks out again, before waking back up in Praecantatia's computer room, the helmet in Praecantatia's hands.

"You did well today. Rest up and we can try this again in a few days, alright?" Praecantatia says, smiling kindly.

 

She snickers.
"Oh, come on. Have a little fun."

"Thank you." Sapphire says, bowing before holding out a small gryphon puppet.
"...You wouldn't happen to know anyone who would appreciate hand-carved puppets, would you? I love making them, but wartime is obviously not a great time to find them new homes."


She nods.
"...You don't think that will enrage the couple... right?" She asks nervously. "If I can't be there for Xlentia, I don't want to bring her under even more fire."

 

"The young children at the school in the main city may appreciate it." Lielia says.


"Well...I'm not sure. If I found out someone had erased Stephanie from existence and my memories, I'd be more saddened than angry." Praecantatia says.

 

"I'm kidding. I like the way I smell, if that's normal."

 

"I may pay them a visit. I have dozens of puppets sitting around my hideout." Sapphire says, starting to walk out.


"My only case is that she was mind controlled, and she couldn't help it..."

She laughs.
"You got me there."

 

He laughs.
"Thankfully a bit of fun can lesser the pain."

 

"Speaking of lesser pain, I'm done." She laughs, hopping off.

 

He gets up and cleans the dust off of him.
"Alright. Now, let the exploring begin."
