Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

Emerald's sleep goes undisturbed until the sound of birdsong in the morning.

 

She groans, glancing out the window.

 

Pulling back the curtains reveals a beautiful sunny outlook over the forests of the main island, the window seeming to be a part of the massive tree in the centre. Colourful birds fly about outside, and Emerald can see a few robotic golems wandering about.

 

Emerald looks around the rest of the room, leaving if possible.

 

There's a bedside table and a wardrobe with drawers underneath, presumably to store clothes. Outside the door seems to lead to an upper floor of Praecantatia's home, however, a bathroom just across the hallway from Emerald, as well as a few more doors both along and next to Emerald's.

Katie, yawning, swims out of the room next to Emerald's, the entire room appearing to be filled with water that doesn't flood out in the hallway.

"Morning, Emerald." Katie says, smiling tiredly at Emerald.

 

"Morning." She says, glancing down the hall.

 

"I was raised a hunter. So hunting is what I do." He smiles.

 

The bathroom door seems to be ajar, though the hall is still. Katie walks past Emerald and down the hallway, taking a left at the end and walking out of sight.

 

"Fair enough, I guess. Maybe I can help your hunt next time."

Emerald decides to wander down the hall, still confused.

 

"Maybe. Maybe not. We'll see."
Pause.
"So, how long till the full moon?"

 

The end of the hallway seems to split into two directions, one leading down a staircase and the other heading to a purple set of double doors.

 

"Eight hours, then it'll peak for four. If you can keep it together through the next twelve hours, you're on track to get everything under control."

Emerald tries to open the double doors.

 

The doors open quietly to a dark room with a four-poster bed, Stephanie asleep in it cuddling what looks like a small black cat plush. A yellow crescent moon glows dimly just below the ceiling, seeming to be the room's light.

 

She silently closes the door and heads down the other way.

 

The staircase leads down to what looks to be the front door of the house, two doors either side of the entrance room. Emerald can hear noises coming from the door to the right.

 

"Alright. Then once we get on land, we'll head out and search for somewhere to stay."

 

Emerald follows the noises.

"Again, I could drop you off on a volcanic island."
"Nobody's there, and it's dormant."

 

The door leads into the living room, Shadow Stephanie and Katie watching an animated show about a boy seemingly stuck in his home. Shadow Stephanie has a bowl of porridge on her lap, occasionally eating a spoonful as she watches the show.

 

"I mean, if it's save we might as well head there."

 

Enerald looks for any other exits.

"Just for tonight... correct?"
