"No, why would I need authorities after me? What's wrong with coffee?"

 

"If you get authorities after you, then the Shadow you summoned did a shit job." I say.

"Yeah. Even I'd clear the memories of the robbery afterward, or even change them so they think someone else did it." Shadow Stephanie says.

 

"Still, what's wrong with a coffee?"

 

"Nothing, but that's like buying an entire apple orchard to eat one apple." Shadow Stephanie says.

 

I shrug.
"You kinda gave me all the tools I need to make my own damn orchard. And then you gave me an orchard."

 

"Nothing wrong with having a Shadow to help you out on a stealth mission." I say.

Shadow Stephanie nods, agreeing, "Plus, if you ever wanted to contact us, you could always get the Shadow you summon to deliver a letter or something to us." She says happily.

"Maybe we could be pen-pals!" Katie pipes up, ecstatic.

 

"Sure, why not? There's seven billion to-be corpses back home. That's good for a few letters."

 

"I like that attitude." Shadow Stephanie says, smiling at you.

Katie's face lights up, and she tries to contain her excitement before she runs over to you and hugs you again.

"You're the best!!!" Katie says happily.

"Jeez, Katie's like a child at christmas." I comment, laughing a bit.

 

"I'm a lot less sensitive than most." I shrug. "Well, expect a letter or two sometime. I can't just go on a murder spree, so take note of outgoing shadows."

 

"You could always look for a corpse somewhere. As long as it's fresh enough, it'll work." I say.

"Yeah, maybe look around for car accidents." Shadow Stephanie says.

 

"I can't just take a corpse."

 

"It's not 'taking', it's 'borrowing for an indefinite amount of time'." Shadow Stephanie says.

 

"That'll make the authorities go after me." I say flatly.

 

"So they don't find a corpse at a car crash and they immediately hunt you down?" I ask.

"They won't be able to catch you because of the all the useful gifts we gave you." Shadow Stephanie says.

 

"They search for the body for years, but you're right, I've got the tools to pull it off."

 

"You could always blow up the car and leave a bit of charred meat so it looks like they blew up with it." Abigail says flatly.

"Either way, it'll be nice to receive a few letters from you, and I'll write back with everyone." I say happily.

 

"Yeah. You're encouraging criminal behavior, which I don't really like, but maybe once for a letter."

 

"As I said earlier, if you don't want to kill people, you can just go to like a butcher's and buy a bunch of animal meat, and it should work about the same." I say.

"I think it states that in the book as an alternative actually." Shadow Stephanie says.

 

"Oh, great. Now I just have to get a damn job."

 

"I'm pretty sure robbing a butcher's is less severe than killing someone." Shadow Stephanie says.
