"I don't mind." He chuckles

 

The golem throws a small ball through the portal before it closes.

 

"One of my kind. A young healer who's earned the alliance of the shadow royalty in her fight against a great evil in our reality."

"Great. Because you're burned in places I won't say out loud."

She catches it, glancing at it.

 

"I guess 'The enemy of my enemy is my friend' rings true there then." Kenas says, laughing slightly.

 

"No, I mean... she's literally friends with them. The king's been going around risking his life to get her out of some sort of spectral prison."


"Aj?" Emerald asks through a link. "The portal is still fluctuating, but I heard another thing from it. Something about three and one, this time."

 

It's just a plastic ball, but there's a hole in the top of it, and a slight blue glow comes from the hole.

 

"That's rather impressive." Kenas says, surprised.


"Weird. That could make four, three, two, thirty one and thirteen," I say, "Didn't the portal say a thing was going to happen a couple of days from now anyway?"

"Oh, and do you know anything about a day of wriggling? Aj sort of zoned out the other day and mentioned it after acting all weird." I add.

 

"That's... good to know for later."

 

Keila peers into the hole.

She walks down on your leg.
"Getting there already, and I really don't want to."

"I've heard many great things about her. Maybe I'll get to meet her someday."


"Yeah, and that was... hold on."
Pause.
"Two days, it said. Apparently, yeah. Not sure what the 'one' is, though."

"I stopped thinking about him. I thought you were crazy, then he came around."

 

"Well, now I want to meet her too!" Kenas says half jokingly.


"I don't know whether to be offended or proud of that." I say.

 

It's filled with a soft, blue glow. Once she does peer in, though, some of the light starts to come out.

 

"I... don't know if you will want to. She's also friends with that pirate captain's daughter. Then again, she's friends with about 95% of people she meets..."


"Flip a coin. If it lands on its side, give up and move on."

She checks the blueprint for a detail on what it could be.

 

"Oh..." Kenas says, going quiet.


There's silence for a bit, before a quiet "Damn it"

"I can't believe this, the first coin I flipped fell into a crack, and then the second coin fell into the crack again but is being held up by the first coin, so it's technically landed on it's side?" I say.

 

There's no information on it, but the light starts to form an image a golem, looking at Keila.

 

"You don't have to if you don't want to. You're the one healing me, so.."
Pause
"It'll cure eventually."

 

"...On the bright side, she's apparently super nice."


Emerald just busts out laughing.

"Yeah, if you want to be laying around for the next week, I'll stop."

Keila looks at the image.
"...Is this supposed to happen?"

 

"Well, I guess if she's nice she can't be too bad!" Kenas says positively.


I laugh with Emerald, humored by the absurdity of my situation.

 

The golem just waves, and holds up a note, reading, "I'll be using this to tell you when I get the slime -VF"

There's also an unconscious, constantly-shifting form in the background.

 

"That's gonna be a though week then." He laughs.
"It's your choice."

 

Mary smiles, taking a deep breath and relaxing a bit.


"Well, see if you can gather the group. Something's clearly happening in two days."

Keila nods, trying to deactivate the orb.

"Really it's yours. I could be off doing other things than healing you, or I could be healing you."
