Why does he have a +1 Shortsword? To compare, Althaios has no magic items except for his class features (Thunder Cannon), and Yevor only has the Helmet of Nope, which is a joke item. Although, the AC boost from the helmet is nice.

Caligo's actually a character I've used outside of this campaign. If you feel the the enchantment is OP, I can take it off.

Just one with me and my IRL friends. We all created new characters when we went from 1e to 5e, and I rolled with Caligo.

It's obviously @SPYROHAWK 's decision, but I do feel it's rather OP. Spyro has been, until recently, extremely conservative in his rewarding of magic items, especially enhanced weapons and armor.

 

I actually pitched Caligo to him with the enchantment, but once again, it's his decision.

In any case, magic items are about to get much more common, as well as throwing in some ones I made myself. Being only one sword, and being only +1, it should be fine.

If it's too powerful I will ask him to remove the enchantment

In all fairness I use the random magic item tables, it just happens I usually roll potions or something.

I do have some more special ones planned, and maybe even a *cough cough* Artifact *cough cough*

But, you are right, magic items have not been the most common thing so far. Let's see how it turns out, but I do reserve the right to ask him to remove the enchantment

 

In my experience the random item table works best if you fudge the rolls a bit, eg. re-rolling if the item is useless, too powerful, or doesn't make sense in the current context.
