comparing the biggest RPG in the world to a mincraft server that runs 600 people average is like comparing CS:GO to my favorite game [IMG]

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/World_of_Warcraft

WoW has been around for over 12-13 years and has had 5-6 expansions over this span of time, not one like Wynncraft. It is way more developed than a minecraft RPG simulator and has tons of money put into it. Wynncraft's world is relatively small. The world of Warcraft, however, is not. There's lots of things going against Wynncraft, and with my lack of experience I can't even point out each problem.
but I can still point out some problems.

Wynncraft has a super small staff base- not a company building its game in order to make millions.
I can imagine Wynncraft being a much better server if it ran on its own engine as well.
Honestly, Wynncraft hasn't had enough time to carefully decide what would be the best for their item/cash economy- it's obviously wack.
Wynncraft doesn't have too much of a lore- it's almost all side-quests with the exception of: quest-lines, quests that require quest items earned from before, and popular historical figures like Bob.
Glitches and bugs that alter the difficulty and time spent in the game are apparent in Wynncraft as well

Given a reset, along side an update that puts things in order, it will help put everything back into a given context making people re-experience the altered story.
If they wanted to get around the needed reset factor, they would have to release a huge world update in order to actually make an impact on the broken economy. This would impact the economy for the higher leveled people of course, but it'd also put a huge gap between the high level players and the low level players- it would reach the point where a high level person could simple drop half a stack of le on the ground and not be too affected by it.

There's so much more that I would be willing to write, but I need to finish psychology. bye

    A) I highly doubt that if you are going to compare factions to an MMORPG and say that its more comparable than a different MMORPG, I doubt you're in a psychology class.

    B) Comparing an MMORPG that has been up for 12 years is more comparable than a factions server that's been up for like 6 months and is already getting a reset

I never said one was more comparable than another, and I was never comparing factions to a MMORPG, rather a function used in factions that could very well be needed to be used in Wynncraft

Yeah. It is. Why would I compare a factions server to a MMORPG server?

I feel that resets should only happen on two occasions:
    A) a really really long time passed without an update so you reset the server to give the players something to do (like dungeon realms)
    B) when something goes horribly wrong

Speaking strictly as a player, I wouldn't want a hard reset - hours spent grinding and finally getting lucky by finding a mythic, only for all that work to get flushed down the drain? It would be very disheartening, and I think a lot of the player base who has put real effort into leveling up would feel the same. If it got reset would I even bother to play, or just get sad that all the things I've acquired along the way are now gone? This is an extreme but classic example, a reset would divide the player base, between new (that don't mind it) and old players (against it). We do have multiple classes, we can start fresh without giving up our previous treasures. Perhaps the issues that need to be fixed could be handled in some other way? I guess it's to be seen what will come next :)

And here we have a prime example as why Wynn is heading the wrong way - luck. Everything amazing in this game is so luck based it's not even fun anymore. No one minds it because they grinded so much, or put so much effort into it, no. They mind it because either they would lose their fortune or/and their heavy-luck-based items, knowing that might not ever happen again.

Why, in an RPG game, is luck the most rewarding aspect, and not skill?

Also, how is that any different than getting a pumpkin drop and learning it's worth jack shit because of all the duping? You got extremely lucky by getting a pumpkin to only figure out how worthless it is due to all the cheating occurred in the game. The reset didn't even happen and my "efforts" got "flushed down the drain". How is that not disheartening?
Running dungeons daily can give you 50+ levels in a day. What did Lue say, he/somebody went from level circa 45+ to 90+ in a day!?
That's not an effort, and as long as that exist in the game, "putting effort" argument hold absolutely no value. Reaching high level in this game is a joke when finishing 1 quest gives you almost a full level, or when running dungeons for 2 days can max out your character. Jacky did it in less than 24h. That's not an effort considering this is RPG.
What about the constant nerfs that are happening and ruining peoples builds, not to the point where they are weaker, but not even usable? All my efforts gone to shit, and once again, the reset didn't even happen. Hive items being changed for example. You get 1 voucher which you spent on a particular item only for it to be changed at a later date. Yes, the item is still there, but if you are not able to use it, your voucher just got wasted and all your efforts went to shit, again. How is that person supposed to be motivated to play the game?

You have been last seen in the game 4 days ago, therefore "not bothering to play" isn't exclusive to only being reset, obviously. You can't be bothered to play it in current state either. Neither can I, but I at least open my daily chest.
Not the point, as all the issues within the game still exist.
Reset is not happening, it's quite obvious. Roll backs should have been issued the moment duping was found it, but they didn't.

What will happen next, I don't know, but unless some major changes occur, I can't see this game live for long. It's an RPG game, and the absolute worst part of it is the gameplay. Grinding is none existent and not rewarding, it's too heavy RNG based, economy ruined by duping, dungeons and quests ruining the leveling mechanics with the overprevalent experience boost, no end game content, surplus of items at current level with minimal differences...and that's just the tip of the iceberg.

Mythics have a set drop rate, which means you have a bigger chance of finding one the longer you grind for items, so who do you think found the mythic - the person who grinded for 1 hour and also found a lot more items, or the person who grinded for 5 minutes? That is what I meant by effort, it does have somewhat of a luck factor into it since it could drop to someone who grinded for 5 minutes (haha, good luck having that happen though!), but it usually drops to the person who has grinded for more hours, that is more effort spent.
As for the duping part, all the situations regarding duping must be immediately reported and all items that are duped must be eliminated, exactly to prevent those type of situations from ever happening.

Those are players who have learned how to speed through quests, they have been playing for a while and have learned how to do it, it also requires dpx, dungeon keys, etc., so the majority of the player base certainly can't level up to 100 in a day or two. The dungeons situation you mentioned, do they not require you to play all day, and isn't that a lot of hours spent just running through the dungeons over and over again, do you really consider that fun or isn't that grinding? I have been playing for a long time, before there was high level quests, dungeons and higher xp reward from killing mobs, and I can certainly tell you the grind back then wasn't fun, people would spend days grinding just for one or two levels. So we went from hours and hours of grinding with no reward to how things are now. The changes came cause content gets added, reworked etc, and things get readjusted, that's how it works for everything, so in he future things could get adjusted once more, trying to find the balance is what's important, but is also what's most difficult to do.

As for my last login, I currently have very little time to play, with university, also driving classes and so on, which is very different from "not bothering to play", if I could I would play all day gladly. I don't give importance to a single daily chest, which is why I don't log on just for it, if I log on it's cause I have time to play, which is what matters to me.

The nerfs exist to prevent game breaking builds from existing, everyone gets affected when that happens, but do you really think it's ok to run around with a build that prevents you from receiving any damage whatsoever and one shot every mob? That is what's easy, and it shouldn't be, the game should provide everyone a challenge, no matter what level they are at.

Neither of them, because the person who found mythic is either loot running or got it from item bomb. Grinding in this game isn't worth it nor rewarding. When is the last time you saw someone suggesting to go grind for a mythic because that actually works? People grind to go from 90-95, that's it, for everything else, they do dungeon runs and loot runs.
It's not somewhat of a luck factor, it's literally most of it. Shitty player who invested no time can get infinitely more rewarded than a skilled player who invested hundreds of hours because he got lucky. Literally an acquaintance of mine with no skill found a great mythic, and now he is richer than I will ever be because he got lucky. Not skilled, but lucky, that's such a terrible game design. It's like we are playing candy crush and waiting for right bonbon to fall into the right place.
I mean, duping was reported, but items obviously weren't dealt with. White still costing 50% less than it should, tons of LE poured into the game which caused the inflation, pumpkin being worthless, duppers not banned. Not a solution I'm afraid, at least here.
But they are exactly those you targeted with your comment. Majority of the people don't even have a level 100 class, therefore that's not a significant effort involved. Only people who can use "leveling effort" argument are those with multiple 101 levels, as anything besides that takes little to no effort at all. I reached 75-100 after few days with no game knowledge, no skill, shitty gear after being absent in game for months. I can't seriously take that as an effort because it's not.

That part I didn't quite understand. Dungeons do not require you to play all day. Depending what you need/want, you can be fairly quick with the dungeons. Playing dungeons all day yields a far better reward than it actually should. Running trough csst can give you 100-101 in a day. In a day, something that's supposed to be the ultimate challenge is done withing a day. Also, why grinding couldn't be fun? Grinding is the best aspect of the RPG game when done right. Because of everyone's anti grinding mentality, the game development started following the wrong path.
I still remember how Grian said too much grinding is bad. It's not when done right. Most successful RPG games involve a lot of grinding. And people don't mind it, because it gives them the reason to play the game for longer, and when you get rewarded for it, it's such a satisfying feeling. Something Wynncraft is seriously lacking.
Wynncraft is not even RPG anymore, it's a tell tell game cause the best parts of it are the story and the builds. No one is playing Wynncraft because the gameplay is so amazing, fun and rewarding.
That's exactly how leveling should work, believe it or not. Having a high leveled character should present something. It should show you know what you are doing and that you put a substantial amount of work into it.
I can play PoE for a week and not gain a single level in the endgame. A week, something unimaginable for Wynncraft. And yet, in Wynncraft, In a week I can max out several classes. And then people say they are bored. Of course they are bored when everything is so quick and unsatisfying in this game. Also it's worth mentioning PoE is one of the best, if not the best, RPG game currently existing. WoW is probably more popular.
It's not actually much better, is it. If anything, we can debate it's worse. Going from not fun grinding to not fun dungeon runs which diminish the importance and status of high levels. Having 75 before meant more than having 100 now because you actually had to grind. The problem of not being fun is directly correlated to not being rewarding. It should have been addressed ages ago, but instead they focused on quests.
That one is on me. I can't possibly know what you are doing, therefore using that as an argument shouldn't have happened. My bad.
Most recent nerfs don't address that, especially the hive SP change which was highly unnecessary and could have been avoided. If not, a refund issued, at least.
Running around, not dying and killing everything in a single shot is mostly due to bugs, something also which should have been addressed ages ago. Tho my point was how you can play the game legitimately and still have efforts and time wasted, without having a reset. In order to get a different hive gear at this point, I have to start a new character, which isn't anything different if I would to be reset. If I was reset, at least economy would be clean, providing dupping doesn't happen, which is hard to promise. If bugs were to be fixed, a reset could yield so much benefit, but because no one wants to look past themselves, it's never going to happen. I, for one, would be glad to be reset, and I have joined 3 years ago.

Peronsally I wouldn't like a reset But Something Glitched Slayer had said and I do agree with is * there are more lvl 101s now than 90s before corkus* and yes we all knows its from CSST which I don't like and with the way it is right now inless they reset the money system they probably need to increase the chance for a mythic before as of right now you either grind your ass off for hours and find 1 of 40 and hope to get one above 8 to 10 stacks of le where people who don't have the time to grind that much or do that many loot runs get destroyed like I would mind a money reset but inless they add more slots for ranks like 10 slots for vip 15 or 20 for vip+ and 25 or 30 for hero the older players are going to lose intrest but about grinding I'm personally not a giant fan and I do quests because I like the lore behind them and the quick xp it gives because I don't have much time to grind but other than that they are basicly useless as of right now when dern and fruma comes out I would like a level increase but it will probably not happen because of all the armor that would have to be reworked anyways that just what I think

I think that the only problem with the balancing job right now is that you only nerf and never buff. Wouldn't it be better to start off with an item that the GM team thinks is weak and then if it is useless buff it? How the items are now may require some nerfs but if you atleast weaken the blow of the nerf with a buff for another item I think the community would appreciate your hard work more then. I have no experience of balancing a MMO so I may be wrong but according to my basic pshycology knowledge buffs are a lot more appreciated then nerfs.

What is wrong with "you are restricted to using 1 piece of hive gear per class"?
You are not able to code that? Okay.
You also refused to make it as a set with substantial negatives if 2 or more pieces are worn together. Not sure why.
If only thing you can do is change SP requirements and stats, then maybe it would have been better to just leave it be until the code update.
It is very confusing what actually is unbalanced and what is broken due to bugs.

I don't know what's in your power, what you can and cannot do, but if Wynncraft, in general, can't restrict people on using 1 hive gear per class, I am not sure how this game is going to progress. Will you be able to add more different stats? Like damage over time, something like poison but e.g. fire.
If that's something Wynncraft will never have, I'm pessimistic about the future of gameplay, as it leaves a lot to be desired.

I have been away for awhile and recently started playing again. The first thing I noticed was that my Crystal didn't work with my build and that concentration had been nerfed (which was my primary source of income), the next day when I tried to find a new up to date build I found two but heard that they didn't work anymore because of the hive nerf and soon thereafter I heard about the morph-stardust. I didn't know about these buffs (except for the gameplay update) and that was my fault. However I think that my point remains. It doesn't matter how it is sometimes it only matter how it feels and games that you play to enjoy is in the latter category. Famous psychologists have said that a loss hurt a lot more than a buff feels good and that is why I think that nerfs should be used sparingly.

No, I can't code that. I don't know how to.

I asked Salted about changing it into a set, he nixed it. That's something you'd have to ask him about.

If things are broken, they should be fixed immediately. People have been clamouring for these changes unless they're abusing it, in which case they whine about how the nerf makes the entire game forfeit.

Well when multiple things are unbalanced, multiple things need to be fixed. Bringing everything up to the level of what's considered unbalanced will only unbalance things further.
