You're recovering well. It's going to take some rest to get back to the level you were at before, and that combined with your arm, bleeding and weakened means that your swordsmanship is down the gutter. However, you're healing, and that's a good sign.

The stairs are a spiral, and each revolution brings you up to another floor. You can see 13 floors from ground level. How far up will you try to go?

Thorston is still 'hiding in the shadows'

Behind you is a giant doorway with a mechanism covering its entirety. In front of you is a 'witch-bitch'. The only direction you can run is towards her.

 

I leave the shadows.

"What's in there?"

 

I ran at her and cast charm.

 

"Charm person!"
As your spell flies at her, she looks almost smug. however, when she sees your outstretched hand with all those rings, her face goes into a small panic. The magic-boosting rings you looted off that wind mage are finally coming into effect.
"Counterspe-"
It's too late. The swirly eyes take effect. She will now do anything you command her to do. (As long as it makes sense with her worldview and beliefs)

 

I dump everything into my bag and show the contents to Thorston.

 

I'll go to the top first floor up and look around for anything useful.

Ah. The next floor you go up on has a large, circular hallway. There are rooms on either side. You don't see anything - at least not right now.

It's a very long sword compared to you, but being a rapier it's rather light. You can wield it, but the balance is way off.
