Generic Fantasy - [5/7]

Dez:"lucky you had armor...ok listen you look like you're strong adventurers so I came to you. Do you know anything of a cult thats (I describe where the cult was)"

 

I follow, hiding in the shadows with my sword out.

 

Adventurer 1: "What? No! A vile group like that is active?

 

Dez:"yes they were trying to sacrifice me for a ritual or some other cult stuff"

OPEN THE DOOR

 

Lazarus: "Seems there's no room for negotiation. Brace yourself."

As soon as he fires the orb, I'll reveal my wings, rocket up a bit, then dive in towards him, not getting too close to avoid his static field, and hurl a throwing knife at his heart.

 

Adventurer 1: "Ah. Classic cult behavior. Are they still out there?"

You open the doors in the most dramatic way possible. As they swing out and open, you're greeted with... a giant mirror? Inside the mirror lies an equally giant keyhole - at least 3 feet tall. Your reflection makes you realize just how much effect magic has had on your physical shape. You're in your late 70's, but your body looks like a man thirty years younger. Your new white longcoat looks rather nice on you. As you admire your reflection, however, you see a shape behind you and the echoes of footsteps. Something's coming up the stairs.

You're waiting for him to fire his orb. He doesn't seem to be doing it, however.

Kyovit: "Do you think flight will let you escape me, angel? I'm glad I've loaded myself on lighting resistance wards. Thunderwave!"

His ball of lightning expands around him, creating a fast-moving wall of electricity. You unfurl your wings. How will you not get hit?
Vesuia: "Thunderward!"
With the added resistance against electricity from that spell, however, you easily fly past it. The throwing knives thrown and aimed dead at his heart, but at the last moment...
Kyovit: "Flashstep!"
... He teleports in a zap up into the air, 3 feet behind you

You walk down the dark corridor for around 3 minutes. However, you then notice a warm glow not coming from Leon. At the end of the hall lies a small, square room. On one side of the room is an old chest. The other has an ancient looking axe propped up against the wall. In the middle lies a fire, the source of the light, and above it a knife hung on a hook.

 

Note: Katana are about 2 ft. I just need to move back 1 ft...

I'll flap back a little, only moving about half a foot. I will immediately draw my sword, swing my body around, and draw my katana to slash him. (Using your draw as an attack is a common technique when using a katana. By common, I mean used pretty much whenever the sword is drawn.)

 

You give him a giant slash wound tearing across his chest. However, at the same time, he produces a knife and throws it at your sword arm, damaging it. The blue scalera in his eyes flicker until they return to white. Kyovit falls towards the ground, hitting the hard floor with enough force to break several bones.

 

I use my potentially younger self to cast more potent sleep.

 

I'd reveal the spell as a life-draining spell, but too op probably.

If he can move, I'll finish him.

If he's incapacitated, I'll land and interrogate him.

 

As you look down on your body, the youngness you see in the mirror does not appear to have taken effect.
Either way, you quickly turn around and cast sleep on whoever's coming up the stairs, but the beam fizzles and dies right before it hits. A hooded person in leather armor with an ornate knife at their waist is at the top of the stairs. When they speak, however, a distinctly female voice comes out.
"Ring of Spell Resistance. Very useful item, nullifies weak spells. Now, Mage, I ask the important question: Why dare you intrude on these gates?"

If you make yourself overpowered, the difficulty will rise in response.
He's bleeding out from a massive chest wound and his leg is broken. Needless to say, he's not going anywhere.

 

"That's an obvious trap..."

 

That's where tactics come into play :P

I'll land, sword still drawn.

Lazarus: "My arm may be injured, but it doesn't require much to finish you off here, so tell me: Why did you attack us on sight?"

 

"Not now... we're nearly done... The gates will open... And their power will come to us... Ruined by an angel? Ha... I... can't.. lose...! Flashst-!"

 

I dunno. Wanna get smashed?

 

Lazarus: "What does he mean by that? I guess these people may be associated with our little cult. Vesuia, do you know of the 'gates' he speaks of?"

 

Vesuia: "No... I wonder what their master plan involving them are, though. This might be a tiny bit bigger than I initially thought"
Kyovit: "-ep"

 

I'll try decapitating him before he teleports because that's what I think the spell does.

 

You slam your blade downwards, straight at his neck. However, you're too late. Bits of electricity linger around the area, but you can catch some of it going off from the area in a vague line shape. It's going to your left, towards the stairs. As your eyes follow what's left of the line, you can see that it goes straight through Vesuia and up to another floor. Other than a bit of a blank stare though, she looks fine?
