Wynn Mafia Game Thread - Fresh Start (end)

Fourteen days ago, the gates of Detlas closed and the chief guard perished in a pile of blood. Thirty of us were set on discovering who did it, and bringing justice to them no matter the means.

We made progress. On the very first day, we mauled one of them to death - Caliborn. With that as a start, we continued to seek out members of the mafia.

Many days passed, however, before two entered the radar almost at once - Panda_black, and Gigavern. The former was quickly lynched, but Gigavern seemed nigh-unkillable until Chigo_ took the helm at the cost of his own life.

We ran out of leads until a few days later, when Nuggets stepped into the spotlight under the claim that he was stronger than Gigavern. Although his powers were frightening, he did not last as long, and with his death a new target was found - Johnald, whom Nuggets had revived after a death that may never be explained.

And now, we set our eyes on Johnald, both due to the eerie nature of his resurrection, and the numerous slip-ups he had made during his time in the city. That didn’t stop him, however, from attempting to direct us onto another target - Vbn5202.

When only seven remained, every one of us mattered, and the opposing sides of Knuckles4212 and Johnald continued to draw votes against two people: Johnald himself, and Vbn5202. However, Knuckles4212 found himself to be fighting a losing battle as more people turned to Vbn5202.

They swiftly drove a knife through Vbn5202’s heart, causing him to collapse on the ground with no hope of surviving. Despite the complaints of some, it was unavoidable - the majority of us went after him, so there was nothing we could do.

Sayleros+ (Independent)
Goal: Survive through the end of the game
Having lost your family to a band of thieves in the recent past, you can’t seem to get your priorities straight. At this rate, your main goal is to get your life back in order - without all the murder that’s been going on lately.

When checked, you will return as innocent.
Every night, you may steal 3-5 emeralds from a player.
With your knowledge of the dead, you have the ability to inspect a body every other night and learn further information about the player.
After your first death, you will revive after three nights.
You win the game if you are alive and one or both of the innocent and mafia parties are eliminated.

Upgrade:
With a two-day cooldown, you may choose a dead player to resurrect for the following night, allowing that player to perform night actions but nothing else before returning to the grave at sunrise. Ghost-players cannot post or communicate with living players, but they cannot be harmed.

...But the day wasn’t over yet.

Johnald looked around, and considered the people around him.

He slowly raised his hand into the air, firmly grasping a blood-stained knife. This was no lynching. This was no hidden attack. This was murder.

Johnald dashed forward with multiple other blurs following closely behind, each with a weapon in hand. The group swarmed over us, stabbing and maiming us until we were all reduced to piles of blood seeping into the soil. The few of us that survived quickly rushed for the city gates and tried to open it. But alas, some still perished - Goner_kid and Knuckles4212 both lay dead in the guardhouse, having sacrificed themselves to crank the gates open. Less than a dozen escaped from the waves of death crashing against every corner of the city. It may have only been a few people, but they were simply unstoppable.

I collapsed against a tree a fair distance from the city and looked back as I attempted to catch my breath. There was no smoke, fire, or anything of that sort, but there were screams. Screams that all of us that escaped would have to bear for the rest of our lives.

Even though it was inadvisable to remain, I simply leaned against the tree and watched as the torment died down by the next morning. With caution, I stepped back into the city.

No structural damage had been done, but the citizens that remained estimated the death count to be well over one hundred. I found Pokextreme attempting to restore order as everyone was asking themselves what happened. We quickly held an election, and he was made mayor alongside roughly half a dozen various citizens. With any luck, our new mayors will repair the damage done and save Detlas’s threatened position of Wynn’s central trade hub.

The Mage (Innocent)
Fresh from Wynn’s greatest wizarding schools at mage island, you visited Detlas for opportunity - not a Mafia hunt. Nevertheless, you are here to help.

You have a spellbook that contains a number of spells. One spell may be cast every phase, but casting spells in three consecutive phases puts you on a one-phase cooldown where you cannot perform any actions.

Spell Book:
Heal - Restores five health to a selected player plus regeneration for 1 phase. Also cures one harmful effect (if any).
Meteor - Deals damage to 3 random players, and does double damage to mafia members. Inflicts burning for 1 phase on all players hit. If you die on a phase when you cast a meteor, the direct killer (if there is one) will take the full damage.

The Item Identifier (Innocent)
You are the item identifier, one of Detlas’s most popular vendors. Warriors and soldiers from all over come in droves to see you and acquire your services.

You can enchant a player’s weapon to give the user the empowered status (+2 damage) the next phase. This has a one-day cooldown.
You can, every day after day one, check a player to determine what weapon he/she is using.
Your vote will be counted an additional time.

The Item Buyer+ (Mafia)
Greed, greed, greed.

You gain double the normal emeralds per action.
Once per day, you can summon a special merchant that sells two random items the following night (to add to the normal 3), and you may name up to 2 other players who may access that merchant.
Once in the game, you may summon a special merchant that sells every purchasable item in the game.
At any time, you can anonymously send emeralds to a player to prevent that player from dealing damage to you, at a rate of 1 emerald for every damage point blocked. This can affect lynch damage.

Upgrade:
Your inventory space is increased from 3 slots to 5.
You gain the ability to steal an item from a player every night.

The Armorsmith (Mafia)
Profit is the driving force behind your alignment. Armor prices are going down - business is seriously hurt. But if the mafia takes over, then people are going to be afraid...they’ll buy a lot more protective equipment than usual, right?

With a 1-phase cooldown, you can distribute a piece of armor to any player, reducing by 50% the damage from all attacks for that one phase.
You have a passive chance to pickpocket any player in the same area as you, stealing two emeralds.
Due to the noise your armor makes, you are more likely to be discovered when attacking a player.
Your armor gives you a permanent protection effect (damage you receive will be reduced by 5 at the end of the phase).

Upgrade (not unlocked, costs 60 emeralds):
You use the emeralds to fund the making of a piece of quality armor. Your maximum health is increased from 25 to 40.

Grian+ (Mason)
You are the head builder of Wynncraft, Grian. In addition to your role as one of Wynncraft’s three owners, you also run a successful YouTube channel.

Every other day, you may build a box around a player, protecting the player from all negative status effects and attacks the following night, although the target will be roleblocked, immune to all items, and any status effects will return afterwards.
As head builder, you are immune to roleblocking.
It is revealed to you who Salted and Jumla are.

Upgrade (unlocked):
Your vote will count one more time.
You gain the ability to record a video of a specified player, allowing you to see everything that occurred related to that player on the phase that this ability was used. This ability has a 4-day cooldown, so use it wisely.

The Dark Wizard (Mafia)
The evil counterpart of the mage. You defected from Mage Island and began practicing the dark arts, favoring its power over the weaker light magic. A mafia-controlled province would be much better for you, as your magic wouldn’t be restricted by the law.

As a dark wizard, you have a one-time ability to break into a player’s mind, converting them to Mafia for the rest of the game. If, for whatever reason, the conversion fails, you will not be able to try again for 6 phases.
With a two-day cooldown, you may blind a player for one night, preventing them from performing any actions that phase.
Should you die, a dark force will strike Detlas, damaging all enemies and healing allies based on your weapon’s damage. Additionally, you may choose one player to take down with you, and if you do not select anyone, your killer will be automatically chosen (if you were killed).

As a first time-host, I can say that even though there were problems (a lot of problems), the game still went on, and now it’s at an end. If I do any more Mafia games here any time soon, they won’t be this large/complex. (WM2 is an exception should it happen, but that’s another story)


I’m working out how the LE will be distributed. I don’t know exactly how long that’ll take (it shouldn’t be long), but I’ll say that it should be up in late September. If you ask why it can’t be sooner, just ask @Pokextreme or @Knuckles4212 about my download speed that time a week or two ago.

Of the Scum

Johnald - 4/10 Scum Points, also saying “anonymous source” along with (Meric) implied they both had some affiliation with each other, and should have made town lynch them. Besides this, he didn’t really make any big mistakes; most of my scumread on him was because of Nuggets reviving him, and his role being empty.

Gigavern - 7/10 Scum Points, both add air spear and I agree that you made the biggest difference for mafia. The only issue I had was that you scumclaimed when the wagon was on Panda_Black, making us immediately know he was scum. Thanks!

(Meric) - 4.5/10 Scum Points, see Johnald.

Pokextreme - 5/10 Scum Points, not really helpful and inactive when town or mafia. Pokextreme wasn’t really that useful in voice or vote, and he was culted purely because I told town to trust him.

Kellogs Cereal - 5/10 Scum Points, NAI, null and inactive.

Panda_Black - 4.5/10 Scum Points, didn’t really do anything the whole day/night, stayed hidden, sheeped, but got exposed when Gigavern scumclaimed.

Caliborn - 3.5/10 Scum Points, you didn’t really try to defend yourself or make yourself seem townier, which would have been an initial newbtown reaction. You didn’t also help town in any way, but were active, which made us know D1 you were mafia. Maybe contribute more next game, and that’ll be fine.

Nuggets - 5.5/10 Scum Points, the scumclaim accidentally exposed Johnald; maybe try to stay alive longer? Scumclaiming, even if it stalls the town, can also delay the mafia(s).

 

Rewind was nerfed to 1 use.

 

Where am I?

 

I do, and just 12 players, lynches and ~5 power roles can take 15 minutes of time per update. I'm amazed at how dedicated he is.
