Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

Shadow Stephanie offers Rineth a slice of pie.


"I was just trying to...figure out what to say to Stephanie." Praecantatia says, sounding depressed.

 

"Shapeshifters? Okay."
Bardock stands up.
"I'm gonna look around the island a bit, I'll be back later."

 

Rineth accepts it, something else clearly on his mind.
"Thanks..."


"Tell her who you are, and hug her. Beyond that, no words carry the strongest message."

"We'll probably be asleep, but you're welcome to come sleep near us if you'd like to travel with me for a bit."

 

"Something wrong?" Shadow Stephanie asks.


"I was planning to do that," Praecantatia says, "I...shouldn't delay it anymore."

 

"...For now. It will work itself out, yet it still troubles me."


"You cannot hope to make up for every moment lost with your daughter in such a brief period of time. But, the more you wait, the more moments you lose."
Emerald seems to be losing it a bit.
"And whatever you do... don't die on her. I-I... I've seen quite enough of that..." She whispers through a weakened link, eventually dropping it.

 

"Are you going to be vague or are you going to explain yourself?" Shadow Stephanie asks bluntly.


Praecantatia sighs, getting ready to leave.

 

"Considering it doesn't affect you, I'm going to be vague."

 

"If you're going to be vague, you can't be down about it." Shadow Stephanie says, looking Rineth in the eye.

"Stephanie..." Artemis says, slightly annoyed.

 

"I wanted to explore the island, so maybe I will."
Bardock starts to explore the forest.

 

"If I'm going to be vague, the only feeling that matters would be stubbornness." He says, staring straight back as he loses all discontentment.

The forest isn't very dense, but it has no large creatures living in it. The largest thing there was Sgavrinn...
Bardock can see a town built on a cliffside, the mountain range visible next to it.

 

"Ugh, whatever." Shadow Stephanie says, going back to her food.

A few insects fly about in the air, the warm sunlight complimenting the occasion.

"This is nice." I comment happily.

 

Rineth eats his piece of pie to kill a bit of time.
"Emerald told me someone new was going to brief us. Someone related to Stephanie, I think she said? I thought we killed her parents, though..."

 

Stephanie looks up.

"I did have a couple of brothers, I don't know where they went after I ran away though." Stephanie admits.

"Weren't they dicks to you?" Shadow Stephanie asks.

"Only my younger brother, since he was treated like some kind of prince. My older brother was pretty understanding and kind to me." Stephanie explains.

 

"Could be one of them. Probably should butcher them after if they were the younger brother. I hate those kind of people..." Rineth grumbles. "Still, speculating won't help much."

 

"It wasn't really his fault. My older brother was set to go to a good university, and my parents wanted to make sure my younger brother did the same. They just wanted to make sure my brothers made them proud." Stephanie says.

"Stop trying to defend them, your parents were horrible!" Shadow Stephanie says, sounding annoyed.

 

"Guess that's the Shapeshifters settlement? Don't think I should investigate at night."
Bardock looks at the settlement while moving a bit closer.

 

"That reminds me... did you burn down the house, or is it still there?"

It's not a village, and the guards seem to all be human. Doesn't fit Ragnyon's description of the Shapeshifters Settlement.

 

"It got pretty wrecked as I recall." I say.

 

"Right... thanks for refreshing my memory." Rineth nods.

 

Suddenly, a large shadow is cast over the picnic as something gigantic blocks the sunlight.

"The hell?" Shadow Stephanie asks, looking toward where the sun once was.

"Greetings." Praecantatia says, leaning over the group (and the house).

"Hello." Katie says, looking up at Praecantatia.
