Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

Immediately getting out of the water, Voidfiller scans the water one more time to see if there's anything noticeable inside.

 

"All blood has some innate magical capability."

The sky's now mostly orange. Not long until it starts getting dark.

It... seems too foggy to see through, and protected to the point magic won't go through it very well.

 

Voidfiller gives up and flies off.

 

I teleport into the air and release a stream of water towards the draconian.

 

It takes a bit to get through the thick foliage cover, but the four-winged beast is nearby, and it wastes no time turning to glare at Voidfiller.

This time, he just goes after you, rushing you with a flurry of chainblade swings.

 

"Well, I'm with everyone right now, but I'm still waiting for the info on the last relic." I say.

 

"I'll get Xlentia ready for... well, I'm not gonna lie, it's going to be ugly. She'll be out for a good week... assuming it goes well."
Pause.
"I'm sending Rineth to you guys now. He hasn't been briefed yet either."

 

"It's getting dark soon. Got anything to spend the night with, like a tent or something?"

 

"What's going to happen when we do the ritual?" I ask, concerned.

 

"I have Sgavrinn." She says. "If you're not fond of him, he could grow some plants you could use as cover... though you'd be the first I know of."

"You'll find out. No need for me to tell you." Emerald says, annoyed.

Rineth appears a minute later, in draconian form.
"Most everyone in one place... it's been a while."

 

The group seems to be in the garden area between the house and the forest on earth, sitting on a picnic blanket with various food items on it that seem to be fitting for the occasion. Sandwiches, nachos, an a blackberry pie are some of the items in the middle of the blanket.

"Hey Rineth! Have you come to join us?" Katie asks happily.

 

"Just for the briefing, though... I have been wondering about your adoptive sister, Katie." Rineth admits, sitting down slightly off to the side.


Emerald offers a link to Praecantatia, slightly concerned.

 

"Oh, um..." Katie says, going quiet and avoiding eye contact.


"Yes?" Praecantatia answers.

 

"Oh no, I'm fine. Sleeping in a forest isn't new for me."

 

"She... isn't dead, is she...?" Rineth asks, distraught.


"I'm really sorry about earlier. My job... is to minimize collateral damage. I utterly failed at that when I spoke to you."

Ragnyon shrugs.
"You're the local, not me." She says, Sgavrinn setting her on the ground as he goes off to sniff at a few nearby trees.

 

"No, but...she sort of turned into a big dragon and I got scared." Katie says.


"...It's fine." Praecantatia says, though it sounds like it isn't fine.

 

"She... tried to revert?" Rineth asks, still looking worried, but less so.


Emerald pauses.
"It never will be, will it?" She says, voice a bit hesitant.

 

"I don't know." Katie admits.


"...Maybe one day." Praecantatia says, sounding distant.

 

"I guess."
Bardock looks around a bit.
"Do you know anything about the village on this island? I haven't been there yet."

 

Rineth sighs, trying to bury his concern.
"Well... she's not dead, so she'll be okay."


"I intended to link to you regarding the briefing... but I think I now understand the impact this war has on... others."
Pause.
"I promise you, you have not failed anyone. And after this relic is retrieved, I promise I'll have someone over to help lighten your spirits."

Sgavrinn seems to just be smelling some flowers.
