Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

"Voidfiller, creator of things I want to make."

 

It doesn't take long for the pair to construct the first portal frame, large enough for a tall person to walk through. A pair of crystals rest near the top that seem to create a semi-transparent shield around the frame. Caelia warps a hellhound next to her and telekinetically moves it into the shield, which completely disintergrates the hellhound.

"You may wish to tweak the strength of your shield, Praecantatia." Caelia comments.

Praecantatia shrugs, "It'll keep them out." She says casually.

 

A guard steps forward.
"How long will the shield last, and will it harm those with wounds inflicted by hellhounds?"

"Fitting name. Are you perpetually bored?"

 

"Not if I find something to do. For example, teaming up with people to overthrow someone who mind-controls gods."

 

"Hopefully indefinitely. The crystals generate their own magic faster than it's drained, it'd take a lot of hellhounds killing themselves all at once to start to drain the magic, and even then there's a lot of it stored anyway," Praecantatia explains, "The shield can tell if something's a hellhound or not, and if something is trying to damage the portal too."

 

"Hopefully it holds." They say, returning to their post.

"You're with us? I feel like I'd have recognized you if you were."

 

The pair warp away, constructing another portal frame near the fleshy entrance to the underworld. Once completed, the portals activate and link to each other, providing instant transportation between the two locations.

Praecantatia and Caelia step through the portal.

"I think our work here is done, so we should be taking our leave." Praecantatia says.

 

Voidfiller shrugs.
"I've been keeping a low profile."

 

"And you said it only affects hellhounds?" The guard asks.

"Clearly. How long have you been trailing the group, then?"

 

"And things trying to damage it." Praecantatia says, punching the frame lightly before twitching slightly as odd purple electricity darts across her for a moment.

 

"Trailing? Zero days. Been hiding in one of them? Ever since I saw them."

 

"Can it tell the difference between someone falling into it and purposeful damage?"

"Oh, you sneak. And I thought the shadow was supposed to be a ninja."

 

"Y'know, between me and him, I wonder who would win in a mind fight."

 

"Unless you're a demigod, he probably has an edge."

 

Praecantatia nods.

 

"As long as it's sturdy enough to stand up to drunks forgetting the size of their armor, it should be fine. But, your necklaces didn't look that red when you got here..."

 

"That's probably a fair assumption. Not that I'm hoping to fight him, anyways."

 

"A contest of mental strength would probably turn into one of physical, from what I've seen out of him."

 

"I must leave. Best of luck with Stephanie, Praecantatia." Caelia says, tapping her necklace twice. Caelia disappears in a red flash, and Praecantatia heads through the newly created portal.

 

The warpwyrm awaits Praecantatia.
"Was your necklace always that red?"
