Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

Praecantatia looks through the portal, smiling as tears begin to run down her face.

"T-That's her. That's my l-little girl." Praecantatia says, crying tears of joy.

Praecantatia walks over to Emerald and hugs her, "Thank you." She mutters quietly.

 

Emerald closes the portal, hugging Praecantatia back.
"So, you'll do it?"

 

"I-I will." Praecantatia says, wiping her eyes.

Caelia puts a hand on Praecantatia's shoulder, looking at her.

"You've found her." Caelia states, smiling.

 

"I'll go gather the information. Seems someone else is here to talk with you."

 

The pair look around for the other person.

 

Prime steps up onto the top of the Spire.
"Am I interrupting something?"

 

"No, you're not." Praecantatia says, smiling cheerfully at Prime.

 

"Ah, good. I forgot where we were, but talking in the doorway of a clothing shop wasn't the place to chat."

 

"Quite." Caelia comments.

 

"A'ight, so, I'm venturing down these stairs, nothin' really special, 'til this big opening comes up with this huge door. By now I've disguised as one of those things, looking like this,"
Voidfiller shifts into a small, goblin-like form, though it's strange. Pretty much all of the proportions on this creature seem off.
"'cause it's not like I want to cause any trouble. Anyways, I try pushing on the door, cause there's no handles, and it doesn't budge. Then, I knock, I hear a few sounds, and the door opens. I didn't try to figure out what made that door work. So beyond this door is an enormous cavern - larger than the average city - with these goblin things scuttling all about. Kids, adults, elderly, workers, everything. The ceiling was riddled with jewels that provided a light, and in the far corner of the city was what looked like a mine, workers coming in an out all the time. The only actual building was this regal-looking one, I guessed it was the home of someone important. Everyone else had holes in the ground, some holes were bigger than others for certain reasons. So I walk along, exploring the town, and these things are giving me odd looks as I'm passing them. I thought I might look a bit weird or something, so I didn't give it any mind. Then, one certain one walks towards me, and they stop, standing in front of me. Now, I don't know their language, so I'm not going to try to talk to this guy. I try to move out of the way, but they block me again. Then they started sniffing me, and I knew something was wrong. In the middle of sniffing me, their eyes go wide, and they screech this ear-piecing scream. Everyone turns and looks to the guy screaming, and then to me. I knew something was going to happen, so I start to get ready, then the one that was screaming strikes at me. I duck, dodging, then shove me hand through their gut, killing them. Everyone that was looking suddenly charges, yelling and screaming barbarically. Mind you, there's tons of them. One thing leads to another, and I've killed over a hundred of these things, and none of them seem to get the point to stop, or to run, all of them just keep coming. Elderly, workers, even children dropped what they were doing and attacked. It was about thirty minutes before nothing charged anymore. Well, nothing charged because nothing was there, excluding one, who was on one of the balconies of the one building. It looked like a girl, and she was crying. I flew up to her, and I really felt bad about doing this. At least, sort of. They did attack me. Either way, she didn't want me near her, and she was babbling about ruling this things, and that they were made by her dad and for her, and that she failed to even do that, so I asked who her dad was. I could only hear her say something about a god through tears, then she was silent, stood up, and threw herself off the balcony."
Voidfiller pauses, and turns back to his default switching.
"I managed to get some different jewels and gold from the mine, though, so that's always good."

 

"So... I suppose I should start from the beginning again, seeing as I forgot where we were. We'd introduced ourselves, but I'd like to welcome you to the underworld. We're the only city here, and I heard that you've already met the mayor."

"Graceful. Do you still have any of the jewels?"

 

"Yes, though we sort of got off on the wrong foot," Praecantatia says, "How did you end up building a city down here?"

 

"Heh, I hear that a lot..."
Pause.
"I don't really know, that'd... be a question for my father." He sighs.

 

"I sold most of them, but I kept the necklace the girl was wearing and a few of my favorites."
It says, summoning a necklace of tear-shaped jewels in the order of green, blue, red, clear, red, blue, and green.
"Y'know, as a helpful reminder that everyone goes through tragic stuff."
It says half-jokingly.

 

"How did sentient beings manage to reach this place at all?" Caelia inquires.

 

"I think witnessing an extinction is a bit more than tragic, but to each their own." She shrugs.
Pause.
"Anything else?"

"That's easy - curiosity. Rift opens, things go through. Or warpwyrms... We used to have more, but the one way off to the west is the only one left."

 

"So...you're just trapping people down here?" Praecantatia asks.

 

"Of course. This might not be as exciting, but I took part in a slave revolt once."
The necklace in its hand disappears.

 

"No, people legitimately live down here. There's a city here, after all... I didn't make any of it. Nobody opened the rifts, they just... open. There was one here a long time ago, and there was one in the overworld not so long ago."

"Well, since I'm practically in the process of doing that, I'm interested."

 

"You are? How so?"
