Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

He's already gone by the time Praecantatia reaches the edge, though there's no signs of magic used or any trace of where he went.

 

Praecantatia slides down her metal goggles, looking for any sign of the mayor.

 

He's over in the black market, talking with a couple of shady merchants.

 

"Why would the mayor be in the black market?" Praecantatia asks herself, confused.

 

Obviously, there's no response.

Fifty minutes until Prime gets back, if he's on time.

 

Praecantatia summons a deck of cards and shows them to Caelia, who shrugs. Praecantatia then summons a pair of stone humanoid golems and starts dealing out cards, the group playing some card games.

 

"My own experiences or stuff I've heard?"
Voidfiller asks, finding a seat, or creating one of one's not available.

 

He has his pick of five, though it doesn't matter.
"Mostly the former, but gossip's good too."

Several hands later, Emerald appears from above.
"One, I'd keep monitoring the time you have left here. Two, Praecantatia, please extract your assistant from the Archives."
Pause.
"...And three, I was thinking of you giving the clue to the last artifact. It would kill two birds with one stone if you were to report the information to the group."

 

"Oh, I'll gladly share stuff that I've been through."
It says, sitting down in the nearest seat.
"Let's see... oh, yeah, I purged an entire colony once and drove their demi-god leader to suicide. Wanna hear about that?"

 

"Sounds like a good start." She nods.

 

"Alright. So, to preface this, for a while I was living in a town that had this guy named Arnold. Dude was a borderline professional spy, and a very eager adventurer. He ran this news source called 'What's Out There?', and each issue featured a new area with something in it. That's how I found out about this place. It was south-west of town, and apparently filled with these weird goblin-lookin' creatures, but they weren't anything I'd seen before. Arnold managed to report that he snuck past the main guards and find out that this place was a huge cavern, with tons upon tons of different jewels. Needless to say, I wanted to see some for myself. So, I head south-west, and follow the directions posted in the article, and sure enough, there was this cave entrance blocked by three of those goblin things. Now, I go up to them and politely ask if I can have a look inside, but they just point their spears at me. Normal stuff, I guess. But then they bark somethin' at me, and it's not in the goblin tongue for around here, or any variation of it I've heard. Or any language I've heard, for that matter. The thing is that the 'What's Out There?' articles don't exactly come out often, so this place was my entertainment for the while, and I was not giving up this easily. So, I keep talking and push forward a bit more, and eventually one of the guards shoves his spear into me, forcing me back and making me hurt a good deal. Things were hard hitters. Though, not hard enough, as I stepped back forward and swiftly killed him. Their buds were immediately charging me, so I just simply killed them, too. With the main guards gone, I went down the stairs and into the cavern."
The thing stops, taking a drink of water from a newly-formed canteen.
"You still with me?"
It asks, the canteen disappearing.

 

Caelia checks her necklace before telekinetically lifting Praecantatia's, a holographic time appearing reading "1:41:33", the last number counting down with each second.

Praecantatia summons her tablet again, activating it and clearing her throat.

"Fia!" Praecantatia calls to the tablet, before Fia appears on the screen.

"Yes, Praecantatia?" Fia asks.

"Stay with me, we're leaving soon." Praecantatia says.

"I could relay the information to Tenebrae, who should be able to deliver it to the group you seek." Caelia states.

 

"I just got out of a meeting. If I wasn't, I'd be looking for an excuse to."

"Yes, anyone could relay the information to anyone; I could relay it to Tenebrae if that's what I was going for... or just do it myself. I want Praecantatia to deliver it personally, though."

 

"Me? Why me personally?" Praecantatia asks, confused.

 

"Is that a yes?"
It asks, a bit confused.

 

"Because your daughter is part of that group. And I want you to reveal yourself."

"Hell yes." She confirms.

 

Praecantatia's eyes widen in surprise and shock.

"M-My daughter? S-She's with them!?" Praecantatia asks, stunned.

"How are you certain?" Caelia inquires, suspicious.

 

"Certain, no, but I have a hunch... Do you know your daughter's name, and if you do, can you tell me?"

 

"I hadn't named her, but the name she was given when she was put up for adoption was Stephanie." Praecantatia says, hopeful.

 

Emerald opens up a one-sided view only portal, near Stephanie's location.
"In that case, your daughter is indeed part of the group." Emerald nods.
