Why Can't I Interact With Chests, Fence Gates, Etc.

When I hold specific items, like my Salamander staff, I can't interact with items.

I can't open loot chests,
I can't press buttons,
I can't open fence gates,
And when I right click the ground,

I always get the same message: You don't have permission in this area.

When I change to any other item, it works! Is there a reason for this or something I can do?

 

items are retextured blocks so when you right click a surface with your weapon, it will look like you're trying to build and this message shows up

I always switch to an empty hand or my soulpoints to open chests

It happens when you drop any weapon that is originally a slab. If you don't want this message don't drop weapons that are slabs.

 

Although your method works, for some players who either don't read or don't know which items are retextured half-slabs, they won't know not to drop their item.

I think rule of thumb is: don't drop your weapons if you can help it, or live with the "you don't have permission" error.

 

That's why I try to tell as many people as I see asking about it. ❤
