Wynncon's Lag

    Wynncon on the first day on release was a mess. I came on at around 5:30 pm, start of the parkour race. They were already having issues with lag as theyre were too much people. They put in 2 lag plugins, removed checkpoint plugins, removed the 2nd stage ( 7 in total ) and people ( like I ) still got lagged back. The first person to win was a staff. Unsprisingly, Enduh announced this to be closed and said he/she would try this again tomorrow. And you know why? They got scammed. They supposedly bought a server from ShockByte that could hold quote by Enduh "400 people ez". There was around 300 people I'm guessing. Then he said #FuckShockByte. I want to send ShockByte a message asking them if this is true. But they wont believe one person. So, I want you to go to ShockByte and send them emails asking about why the server was a lagfest. Maybe then 8 months of work will be worth it.

    they worked it out, I think (probably) but I don't know about wynncon there going to be a redo?
    also, I stahp sending them emails now, they solved it
    ANNDDD sorry for this flame war, wasn't my goal. but can we please get another wynn con?

    I'm kinda mad about how everyone is blaming shockbyte. When a server opens up to about 600 unique joins it has to create a mass amount of new directories and other files for the plugins you have installed, it's always crucial to do a stress test to fix these problems before they come up on the day of the event. Also the parts of the event I did attend it was a lot of fun and I'm not hating on wynncon in any way,I'm actually a huge supporter of the concept just IT WAS MOST LIKELY NOT SHOCKBYTES FAULT.

    BUT

    the fact that shock byte claimed they could handle 400 people on a server and supposedly lied is just wrong.
    8 months of effort spoilt for the sake of money...

    well the server was supposed to be able to hold hundreds of people. they spent 8 months and they had many back up lag reducing plugins. even after adding two the server was still a mess. shockbyte was supposed to handthem a "lag free server'.

    Funny how we had less lag last time when we used Yos's PC as the host...
    Where was the server they gave to us hosted from? A fucking vending machine?

    Other then the massive amount if operations that'd need to be run to create new directories and transmit everyone's location to everyone else because everyone would start of in the same chunk let me put it in the simple method explanation. There were 300 entities in one chunk where everyone spawned! This is bad enough with lets say chickens which would cause lag already, chickens however don't constantly send messages to the server and require the positions of all of the other chickens they can see and their usernames + skins, players do... Of course it lagged!

    They said 300 players from what I can hear, not 300 entities in essentially a chunk

    What server is just plain players,

    no entities






    None


    Shockbyte should account for entities when giving estimates

    after all the players dont just stand still doing nothing

    When do you have 300 enitities in one chunk without lag on any server? There's a difference between having players spread out and having them all in one spot. Try putting 200 chickens in a few blocks in a good server and look at the lag

    Difference between chickens and players: The chickens can push each other, WynnCon players couldn't. If you put them all in a few blocks, much pushing ensues.

    Was there 300 entities excluding players?
    I went on wynncon with only 17 players on

    Where is the 200 chickens

    Most entities are item frames,

    they dont move around or update


    so they cause less lag than chicks

    Omg you guys don't understand how servers work you know how a server reacts when it gets 600 unique joins in one hour? Not too great. I wanna go into detail about how these things work but I feel like you guys will just keep saying the same thing "it was supposed to handle 400" which like I said it takes some time for a server to stabilize

    PAST ONE HOUR

    the server joine rate stabilized in the 300's

    Still doesn't explain how Yos's PC managed to handle the server lag better without even crashing once while this server (That is being paid for) crashed about 8 times until it "Stabilized" and still had intense lag even after that.
    Don't get me wrong I'm not attacking you, It's just kind of obvious by now how ShockByte ripped us off, You have no reason to defend them.
