    I'm not sure I believe this, seeing as you clearly don't know what FOIL distribution is.
    FOIL method - Wikipedia <<< That might help you solve this problem.

    This could easily be rewritten as

    =2(3)
    =(0+2)(1+2)

    Now the 2 is in a bracket, so you can use FOIL and end up with these results;

    0*1=0
    0*3=0
    2*1=2
    2*2=4 +
    ----------
    =6

    Alternatively, you could write the question as;

    6^2
    ----- +4
    2(3)

    Which is the mathematically correct way to write a statement, and since numerators and denominators have implied brackets, you would do this;

    36
    =--- +4
    6

    =6+4
    =10

    It's quite ignorant and ironical that you, out of all people, is telling me I don't know my maths. Yes, I'm an engineering student, which means I am not only good at maths, I'm also good using software. If nothing else, at least I can google. 2(3) is 2*3, no butts, no whats, no coconuts.

    Now unless you have another program/site that tells you it's 10, I'm not interested in your opinion. If I'd argue with anyone who is wrong, I'd get nowhere in the world.

    I'm 90% sure you didn't watch the video or read what I wrote, because as I previously said, and as the video says, the question is written wrong. It doesn't follow proper mathematic format, so in reality, none of these programs are properly interpreting the question, but of course you knew that seeing as you're an engineer with "advanced" math programs, such as google.

    The question isn't written "wrong". 2(3) often pops up in my world, and it means 2*3. Be sarcastic all you want, doesn't change the fact it's 58.
    I'm not going to simulate this problem in mathlab just to prove someone on internet wrong.

    See, that's where you're wrong, as the devision sign stops being used in grade 7 in place of fractions, because they actually work with complex problems. As the kind man in the video said, the devision sign makes the question ambiguous.

    In good faith, I will admit that I am wrong, but to be clear, I'm wrong about a diffrent question. There are two ways that this question could be written out:

    6^2
    =3(-----)+4
    2
    =54 (you're right)

    OR

    6^2
    ----- +4
    2(3)

    =10 (I'm right)

    What I want you to take from this is that this isn't just one question, it's two, and that's why it was made. There is no "right answer" because there isn't one question to be answered.

    Also, the way calculators read questions like this is left to right because implied brackets aren't a thing for calculators, otherwise, they wouldn't know where the denominator ends, so that's why all the online calculators say 58.

    Well if you type it as "a = (6^2)/2(3)+4;" in Matlab, it will only give you an error as a result since it is not formattet correctly.
    If you add a "*" right behind the second 2 - like this: "a = (6^2)/2*(3)+4;" - it will tell you a = 58.
    Tbh, I first thought that someone forgot a "^" instead of "*" or put the parenthesis at the wrong place, because I rarely use parentheses for just one number - except when I summarized a part in an earlier step...
