Item Synopsis:
Cancer:
Cancer's main usage in the build is + Tier, since it is heavily required to counter the -Tier on Taurus. It also provides nice lifesteal and mana steal, but those are secondary.

Taurus:
Taurus's main usage in the build is naturally its massive amount of Raw Melee (though when buying you'll have to get one with -14 Tier) No other ids are actually important.

Hephaestus-Forged Greaves:
These leggings are really strong. Boasting 4500 HP and 20% ws, 225 Air/Thunder/Fire Defense, they are perfect for this build. The HP allows for use of low-level sp Boots, the ws grants increased mobility, and the Ele Defs counter Cancer's -air and Taurus's -fire (which at the time of the making of this build was -150) defense. The raw regen allows for healing between battles and is a nice bonus.

Disco, Prisms, Prowess, and Gigabyte:
These items all primarily grant good sp bonus with some positives. Disco grants extra ws. Prisms grant Ele Def to counter Taurus's -water. Prowess grants HP to help with Disco and Prism. And Gigabyte is just good all around with ws and HP.

Chakram/Frenzy:
These items grant much ws and also Have Very Fast + 2 Tier, giving us an end result of Super Fast Attack Speed.

Like and Unlike Tradition Melee:
Like:
Cancer Taurus is well a Melee build that uses + Tier to get Super Fast Attack Speed. It involves building ws, respectable levels of HP, and having positive element defense just like traditional melee builds. It also heavily uses skill point accessories (but also sp boots which are abnormal).

Unlike:
Cancer Taurus doesn't use a Slow-Super Slow Attack Speed weapons to build damage. It derives almost all of its damage from Taurus. Instead, it uses a Very Fast + 2 Attack Speed weapon, due to Cancer-Taurus having net -1 Tier without anything else. What makes it different is where it builds damage and + Tier. Its other main distinguishing feature is its type of damage: Raw Melee.
Theoretical vs. Practical:
Theoretical:
Cancer Taurus boasts Super Fast Attack Speed, 12k HP, all Positive Element Defenses, 70% ws, and 1625 Raw Damage. Seems to be pretty solid considering Raw Damage penetrates element defense and defense, so the damage isn't too low.

Practical:
I'll be frank, Cancer Taurus isn't that strong. I had high hopes for it as a build, due to its theoretical stats, but it's a bit too weak. For one, due to overly high investment into Strength and Dexterity, it doesn't have a way to protect itself due to only having 50 Agility and 41 Defense. Not to mention that despite investing 210 skill points into Strength and Dexterity, it can't deal as much damage as regular melee builds, since Raw Melee can only be buffed through more of it or higher +Tier. It also has many other problems related to Raw Melee, which I'll explain in a separate thread.

All in all, this build is more of a lesson in how one's expectations may not come to fruit.

 

Chakram is needed because it has Super Fast +1 tier of attack speed, which cancels out with the Cancer+Taurus combo to end with Super Fast. Using Very Fast attack speed instead hurts DpS a lot.
Also, this build's source of damage is centered around the raw melee from Taurus. The % from Roulette would be a nice bonus, but it's not worth sacrificing the tier.

 

Not really since Chakram's ws and Tier Attack Speed is crucial, hence making any alternatives useless by comparison.

 

I used Prism since the build is way too sp tight, after Hive rebalance and Taurus buffs, this build has been locked that way. You used to be able to use Legendary Diamond Static Necklace.
