Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

"What the hell do you mean, give up the act? I don't toy with royalty I don't know!" She growls.

 

I think for a moment.

"Get her memories read, I need to check something." I say to the scientists.

The scientists hurry off, returning a while later with a crystal helmet which they affix to Ruby's head, and a large crystal to act as a power source. The helmet activates, scanning through and storing Ruby's memories, from the earliest she can remember to present.

 

Surprised, I look around to see where she might've gone before doing anything else.

 

The memories seem to end at Ruby chained up to the Machine in Xlentia's library, but instead of your group approaching her, a pair of draconians shut off the machine keeping her alive and offer her two potions; one that would "give her the power to remove her enemies" and another that would simply kill her faster.

It's obvious which potion Ruby took.

Her blink lines seem to have already faded, and you can't even confirm the direction she went.

 

I decide to take her advice and not worry about it for the time being.


Having finished their drinks, the thing walks out and walks around, seeing what there is to see.

 

It still doesn't sit right with you, but it'd be better to let it slide.
It's been a couple days, too. Maybe time to check on Amethyst.


A few convenience stores, a single magic shop, and a pet store.

 

Deciding that that's a good idea, I make my way to where I left Amethyst.

Interested, the thing enters the magic shop.

 

She's sitting against a tree in the sunlight. The sun reflects off her scales in a somewhat pretty manner, but it's fairly distracting.


It seems fairly cheap. Full of kits for small tricks and short-lifespan charms... at least the prices reflect that.

 

I approach her, sitting next to her.

It tinkers with the objects, examining them a bit closer.

 

She turns to "face" you.
"Most things ran away"


Small trinkets such as temporary fire resistance or temporary cold resistance line the shelves. The only redeeming factor for these poorly made items is that they do tell the buyer how long they'll last.

 

"Figures
Nobodys come yet i take it"

The thing looks around for anyone tending the shop.

 

"Your enemies, do you remember them?" I ask.

 

"Why would I say such a thing as a prisoner? Do you take me for a joke?"

"Not at all"


There's an elf sitting idly at a counter, looking bored.

 

"If I knew what to do id do it"

"Hello."
The thing approaches the elf.

 

"Well, there are two outcomes here," I say, drawing Shadow Katana, "You co-operate, we tie up loose ends, and you go free from your cuffs and are allowed to go back to whatever life you desire..."

I point Shadow Katana toward Ruby, "Or, you don't, and you'll never get another chance at life ever again." I say, serious.

 

"So... why would you ask who my enemies are if you know I'm one of yours?"

"I dont blame you
You at least tried"


"Good afternoon, shifter."

 

"To test your memory. Any names? Particular descriptions?" I ask.

 

"You just read my memory, why are you acting like my cooperation is required?" Ruby asks, legitimately confused.

 

"I dont want to just leave you here
But i dont know if youd be okay in the void palace or if aj would kill you if he saw you"

"Afternoon."
The thing nods.
"I was wondering who runs this place."

 

"Because I want to see your reactions, your personality. The Ruby I once knew was kind and helpful, but turned sour like a spoilt fruit." I say.
