Murder Mystery 3: Blood In The Study

Gustav the Mage: He and his kinsmen ruined my family's reputation and humiliated us.

Kleiner the Warrior: Well, I had been here previously to get some help from Rayshyroth regarding water powders. I guess we're on relatively ok terms?

Roberto of Robert: Not much actually. I just saw a figure, who I assume was a person, appear and disappear. I don't quite remember what time, but I think at around 2:45 or so? Also, I have mentioned previously that I am a traveller, and I'm just here in Mage Island to tick off as one of the places I've been to.

Gustav the Mage: I only dabble in water magic if it is required I do. I am a fire Mage through and through. Yes, I am somewhat lacking in close combat and heavy weaponry.

Roberto of Robert: Yes, I know several people, including Rayshyroth. You could say that I'm Mister Worldwide. How? Well, I've been here before. What time did my walk start? 11 PM the previous night.

Kleiner is no longer a strong suspect in my eyes,

as they all have possible water skills,

and Kleiner doesnt really have a large connection to the victim, just a passing trade




New thing:

Robert started walking at 11:00

Came back at 5:00

Someone heard someone walking around at 2:30

That someone [who I previously thought was Rob leaving to start his walk]

Was actually Rob Coming back?!?!?!?!?!!



Rob himself said that he saw Lopez doing tp .

Lopez was tping at 2:00 - 2:45

This means that Rob came back at 2:30

According to Rob however,

He was on his walk from 11:00 to 5:00

Rob neglected to say that he came back at 2:30




Summary for people who dont understand:


According to rob he was walking from 11:00 to 5:00

According to Rob he saw someone appear and dissapear in a flash,

Which was Lopez

According to Gustav, he heard someone walking at 2:30

This means that Rob, Lopez, and [possibly someone else, but probs was just rob]

were outside at 2:30

he saw Lopez tping at 2:45


However Lopez said he was tping from 2:00 to 2:45

This means that

Lopez stopped tping shortly after Rob came back
However Lopez doesnt know that it was Rob according to him
Rob however, pretty much confirmed that he saw Lopez,

Meaning that Lopez saw Rob

If not:

Rob, why did you come back at 2:30
Rob why were you outside Carl's house

[and just to be extra sure]

Carl were you outside around 2:30


and

Add that Rob came back at 2:30,
a time very close to when the murder happened

First off, Carl, did you see Gustav and Kleiner's fight? If you did, what did Kleiner use? If he used his mace, was he proficient? Or is he a clumsy fighter? How badly was either party injured?


I'd also like to add my little theory: that Kleiner was framed. Kleiner is the only warrior suspect, so logically we'd assume the blunt force to be tied to him. The work was messily done, forced entry obvious, almost as if someone wanted us to believe that, or was just bad with weapons. And who would want Kleiner in jail? Gustav. Who also can use water magic and has a bone to pick.

We can't rule out Robert, though. Especially after his red herring comment, a red herring = a clue meant to mislead. Perhaps he was an accomplice. Thus, his account of what he saw is probably not truthful. He could be leaving out a person walking around. He's also a traveler- perhaps he met Gustav somewhere and is a friend of his. He may have said otherwise, but we can still conclude he's leaving red herrings.

Roberto of Robert: I feel like I should mention that I'm not staying at Carl the Archmage's place. I'm staying at a friend's place by the docks. As to why I passed by Carl the Archmage's place, I was appreciating the beauty of the island during nighttime.

Carl the Archmage: Of course not, I was asleep.

(Mod note: The walking around was heard in the hallway of Carl the Archmage's place.)

Carl the Archmage: I wasn't able to see much, but by the time I got there, Kleiner the Warrior was punching Gustav the Mage as he was pinned against a wall. Gustav the Mage was severely injured in the fight, but Kleiner the Warrior was left with a couple of bruises and small cuts.

 

That sells me right there.

Spoiler: Suspect Form

Killer: Gustav the Mage
Reasoning: Most of the people here on this island have no relation to each other. Gustav and Kleiner however, do. Kleiner supposedly degraded Gustav's family, and there has been a feud ever since.

But why would Gustav kill an unrelated man to get to Kleiner? To frame him. On first glance, anyone would pin the damage on a warrior. Forced entry, blunt force and water everywhere? As seen earlier in the investigation, we were all quick to jump on Kleiner. However, Kleiner has zero reason to kill the man. The only person with ANY reason to murder would be Gustav.

Gustav has also confirmed he can use water magic, and is garbage with heavy weaponry, explaining both the water and the mess. The small cuts and bruises on the body match the injuries described by Carl the Archmage.

Side Notes:
Lopez was teleporting. No reason to kill.
Robert shouldn't be here. No reason to kill.
Carl has no reason to kill, and much better means to do so.
Kleiner is more skilled with a mace than the room is messy. He doesn't leave small cuts but severely injures. Also no reason.

That leaves Gustav.

but so far it checks out

as far as I remember Robert likes fishing,
so it makes sense he lives next to the docks


tho i still dont like how he went near his house....



We also know that Kleiner is the better fighter

From what I see so far:


Lopez 100% was doing tp

Robert is sorta suspicious, but most likely didnt kill the guy,

as he was seen at 2:45 outside Carls place

The murder happened at 3:00

hes probs just the a red herring

Robert also seems like the tourist,
makes sense that he was walking around

Kleiner has no relation to the victim,
other than a powder trade

Carl seems to just be a bystander

The victim died of a blunt head blow


he was also covered in water and cuts



This would make you think that:


The killers walks in,

Victim notices him and a struggle ensues

but the victim dies of a blow to the head

meaning that The struggle should make no sense


The victim died in 1 hit, so why did the struggle happen?


With the element of suprise Gustav could have just bonked him on the head.


I think theres more to the story

or im over thinking

are there any bruises, or signs of injury on Gustav

 

(All of them): Yes, probably from his fight with Kleiner the Warrior.

If it were the person you were talking about, then please give an interpretation of how the murder occurred.

Question: Were there any large blunt objects in the victims room

 

Lots of. Staffs, small wooden logs, and some sticks.

but for the victim to be covered in water, and scratches.... that means......

If. A there is stuff on it, well... murderer

B. It was cleaned recently...

The victim died in his study. How many rooms does he have? Any places you could hide?
What is the condition of the locks on the victim's doors? What gives away a forced entry? Look for any doors oddly ajar.
Phief, how did you find the body? Were there any possible murder weapons in the room when you came in?
Did no one hear any loud crashes in the night?

Gustav, can you teleport?

 

Gustav's staff is worn out, somewhat damaged. However, Gustav explains that it was damaged during the fight against Kleiner.

Rayshyroth has his living room, kitchen, bedroom, library, and study. Yes, however, a thorough search reveals no one was hiding. The hinges on the main doors and that to the study are broken. The locks have been destroyed. The doors to the study and the main door are oddly ajar.

Phief: Well, I just found Rayshyroth on the ground of his study covered in water and with a bunch of small cuts and bruises. Possible murder weapons? I mean, there are a lot. You have the logs he keeps in his study in case he runs out of firewood, the extra staffs, as well as some other magical nick knacks and sticks.

The floating island of Rayshyroth is too high up to transmit any sound down below.

Gustav the Mage: Of course! It's a basic Mage skill!

In-game, you do a parkour. In-lore, you either teleport or climb your way up some chains.

The locks were destroyed by brute force. They were most likely destroyed during the same time as the hinges on the doors were destroyed.

But Roberto and Kleiner can't.

That leaves Lopez, Carl, and Gustav, unless the listed can climb the chains which I kind of doubt would go unnoticed.

And to confirm: Kleiner, can you teleport?

Lopez, can you use water magic?

Carl, how did you feel about the victim? (Ras what's his name)

We could do this by process of elimination.

 

Robert does not practice water magic

its very unlikely it was him

we also confirmed that he was at Carls from 2:30 - 2;45 ish

he has to climb the chains in like 5 mintues, then kill the victim


Roberto I believe, is pretty much 100% innocent now

So is Lopez

He seems innocent as Robert saw him,

unless Lopez did a uber fast kill

 

Who was the first person to chance upon the murder? How long after the murder did they find the scene of the murder?
