Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

"Why are you bringing Sapphire here?" Artemis asks.

 

Mostly small grocery stores and other convenience shops. There's a single toy shop, but everything else is an apartment or restaurant.

"Well, if I'm going to figure out what the faeries are doing here, I need to... well... not look like a shadow."

 

"I could try talking to them if you wanted." Artemis says after a pause.

 

It checks for any shop related to magic.

 

"One thing at a time, unless you want to sit through the case briefing on what I've got so far." She says.

There are none.

 

"I mean, you've already made war with another guardian so I figured you might need help with smaller and more vulnerable creatures too." Artemis says flatly.

 

Grumbling, the thing checks for any pubs.

 

"Need help, yes. You win. I'll go grab the papers." Alice says, turning hard and heading back inside.

Five to choose from, and all of them seem virtually identical.

 

Artemis keeps writing as Alice heads inside.

 

Not caring, the things enters the first.

 

Alice soon returns with three papers.
"I mean, I was going to disguise myself as a faerie and try to get in on their antics, but whatever works I'm fine with."

Loud, not particularly well-kept, and smelling strongly of alcohol.
It enters the lamely named Sailor's Saloon.

 

"I think they'd be able to tell." Artemis says as she writes.

 

It finds a seat at the bar, glancing over the drinks.

 

"It would take them a while with Sapphire's gear." Alice says, leaving the papers by Artemis.

"So, I found a contract of some sort in the ruins of the community center. I wrote its contents out in common tongue if you can't read fae, but again, whatever works. I think their affairs may be why everything's falling apart in this town."

Three unlabelled taps seem to be nigh-constantly pouring out liquor, two bartenders almost as agile as an acrobat as they manage the mess.

 

Artemis finishes writing her note, carefully tearing it out of the notebook before putting both of them aside.

"Can I see the contract?" Artemis asks.

 

The thing just sits, watching for a bit.

 

"I don't recommend going and seeing the physical thing, however I've copied it in both common tongue and the original language it was written in." Alice says, handing her two papers.

Eventually, a drunk sailor hurls a coin at it.
"Git yerself some enlightenment, newblood." She mutters.

 

Artemis reads over the papers, before handing them back.

"That's certainly interesting." Artemis says.

 

"If you can get anywhere, let me know. I'm poking around elsewhere."

 

"Alright, I'll go and speak to the faeries after I drop off this note." Artemis says, getting up and grabbing her note, leaving the notepad and pencil behind.
