Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

The door opens after Alice knocks, though the wizard isn't behind it, instead he seems to be reading a book in his library.

 

"Sorry for the lack of warning. Are you busy?" She calls.

 

"Not dangerous! I was wondering where you lot come from!"

 

"Darklands. Heading back to port. You visiting?"

 

"Exploring, actually, but sure. Mind if I get a ride?"

 

The captain tosses a silver coin at it.
"My ship's a bit full, but look for my friend's silver banner. He's got room. Give him the coin and he'll know you were cleared with me."

 

It catches the coin in a newly made bowl.
"Thank you, sir. You lot are fishermen, right?"
It asks as it sticks its hand in a portal, searching for something, then pulling out a catfish that's easily over four feet long.
"You want this?"

 

"Not at all, how can I help you, Alice?" The wizard asks, though not looking up.

 

"Yeah, but we're fine. Thanks for the offer, though."

"I was wondering if you could help me pull some DNA or help me figure out who this backpack belonged to. I haven't moved all my stuff in because I don't want to bring my alchemicals here until I get more settled in."

 

"Alright. Thank you again!"
The thing flies off in search for the banner, the ice melting where he stood.

 

The banner is on the third boat over.

 

"I can try my best." The wizard says, looking up.

 

Alice offers him the backpack.
"I dunno if you charge anything, but I can probably pay up if you need."

 

"I don't charge." The wizard says, taking the backpack.

 

"Thanks."
Pause.
"You want me to stay, or leave and come back when you're done?" Alice asks.

 

Approaching the boat, the thing does the same thing it did with the first boat, landing near it.

 

"You can leave and come back, I'll probably be a while." The wizard says.

 

The captain gives it a dirty look.
"What, you going around just to bother all of us one at a time?"

"Thanks. Telepathy's open if that's more convenient for you." Alice says, heading for the door.

Pause.
"Oh... one other thing. How would you suggest going about communicating with faeries?"

 

"Carefully." The wizard says.

 

"No, just you. Your friend said you had room to give a ride to where you're going."
The thing holds up the coin he got from the other captain.
