Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

"Oh, I didn't get Aj a present!"
Crystal realizes.

I approach the party, jogging.

 

You end up taking Rineth's.

Inside is a pillow that releases a pleasant aroma.
"I didn't know what to get you, so I decided that it's hard to go wrong with a pillow." He admits.

"You didn't know, it's okay. You can still run and get one if you want; Linoa can help you with it."

Emerald waves you over.
"Hey, sorry again about the late notice. We're having him open presents now."

 

"I've actually sort of needed a new pillow in my bedroom for a while now. Thanks Rineth!" I say happily, smiling at Rineth before picking another gift.

 

"I don't know what to get him, though... what's a king like him want?"

I make my way over to her.
"Ah, I didn't get him anything... oh well, nothing I could give him that he wants anyways."

 

You pull Alice's, which contains some teabags that give off odd aromas.
"I know tea is more my thing than yours, but I made a special mix that I think you'll like - blood infused, too."

"Maybe you and Linoa can come up with something? She's scrambling to get something right now."

"Being able to come is a good enough gift when we're all super busy. I'm sure you can think of something later, anyways."

 

"Is she? She seemed tired last time I saw her."

"Probably."
I shrug.

 

"She told me she was."

"Well... if it's any consolation, Xlentia didn't know how to sing happy birthday." Emerald chuckles.

 

"If being with Artemis has told me anything, it's that tea enthusiasts make the best tea. Thanks, Alice!" I say, smiling at Alice.

 

"Heh, no problem!" She says, glancing and smiling at Artemis.

 

Crystal thinks for a few moments.

I smile.
"Well, she probably hasn't had it sung to her many times, to be fair."

 

Artemis smiles back, looking as happy as I am.

I take another random gift joyfully.

 

This one's from Sapphire, and inside is a small dragon puppet with six strings for moving it about.
"I-I didn't have any ideas, s-so I decided to hand-carve something and hope for the best." She admits.

Rineth keeps quiet.

"She's been alive for countless birthdays. She could at least remember 'Happy birthday to you.'"

 

"Aw, this is so sweet of you! Thanks Sapphire! It looks really well made." I compliment, smiling at Sapphire as I play with the dragon puppet for a bit.

 

"It'll be fine. He looks like he has his hands full anyways."
Crystal reassures himself.

I just shrug.
"I guess she could."

 

Two strings move the wings, and then a combination of three strings move the legs. The last moves the head.
You figure out how to make it look like it's laying down and how to make it look like it's flying... that's it.
"T-thanks..."

"I wouldn't worry about it if I were you." Rineth reassures.

"I mean, her memory is very selective. I find it mildly frustrating at times."

 

I gently manoeuvre the puppet to be laying down again before carefully putting it down as I take another gift.

 

"I won't. I'll be fine."

"I can't even imagine how it might feel to take care of her like you do, honestly."

 

This one's from Emerald, and, unsurprisingly, it's a book, but it's blank.
"That's a holochronicle recorder. It'll record any adventure you take it on, and let you relive it through holograms in the future."

Rineth just smiles before returning to watching Aj open gifts.
"Actually, I have a funny little idea. What if I put you in a box and you just kind of jumped out and said 'surprise' when he opens it?"

"It's... exhausting. She's a goddess, but she has the mentality of a child." Emerald groans.

 

"Whoa, thanks Emerald! I guess we could start recording this second half of our adventure." I say, laughing as I look the holochronicle recorder over for a bit before taking another gift.

 

"That'd be fun!"
Crystal seems excited, but thinks for a bit.
"But isn't it a little late for the surprise?"

"You're doing a good job, though. Keep it up."
