Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

I gasp, smiling.

"Oh my god, you guys!" I say happily.

"You called?" A voice asks from all around as a tall Shadow appears nearby.

"Happy belated birthday, my king." Tenebrae says, smiling.

I just stand where I am, an expression of joy on my face.

 

Emerald and Sapphire high-five each other as Xlentia smiles at Tenebrae.

"We tried to slide this in yesterday, but you were out. Sorry about that." Alice admits.
"Oh, don't ruin the mood. Shut up and go with the party!" Amber says, laughing.

"I'm sorry I couldn't give you the gift of Ihra, but... she's literally inside me so I decided I had to come!" Xlentia says as she turns back to you.

 

"This is...so...amazing of all of you. It's so nice that you all showed up, even more so throwing a party for me!" I say appreciatively, overwhelmed with joy.

 

"Well... whenever you're ready, you have lots of shiny gifts waiting for you!" Xlentia says happily.

"Actually... one of them is from the enemy." Emerald says.
"Huh? What do you mean?" Alice asks, suspicious.
"I already checked it... but the Hive Master sent him something as well as a note." Emerald responds, handing you a box wrapped in dragonscale-print paper.
"I suggest you open it first, get any hard feelings out of the way so we can fully enjoy the rest of the party. And don't worry, I already checked it and made sure it's safe."

 

"I wouldn't have the most trust for a gift sent by your enemy." Tenebrae warns.

I nervously unwrap the box, opening it and looking inside.

 

Xlentia gone, Crystal heads over to the library.

 

Inside is a pre-opened letter and a jewel.

"To my most Formidable Foe,

I suppose this got lost in transit, but an attempt is better than nothing at all. Word got to me about your birthday, and though you are the largest threat to my plans, my gift to you is a three-day ceasefire. I am witholding my forces for these three days so you can have the celebration you deserve with the friends I wish I had.
The jewel within is a gift from my daughter. Only you may use it, though it has the power to fully lift the curse of a single preserver.
I hope you rest well after the party.

She left a huge portal, and there's another large portal in a suspiciously empty library.

 

I look at the crystal, surprised, before looking at the letter again.

"My...My god...He's...Wow..." I say, shocked.

 

Emerald smiles.
"Can I see it? Emerald didn't let anyone else see the package." Sapphire asks.
"Yeah, same."
"Please?" The others join in.

 

Assuming that leads to the 'party', Crystal just peeks in because of curiousity.

 

Everyone's there, including the preservers and Xlentia and Rineth, along with an utterly massive Shadow standing around Aj's group.

 

Crystal slinks in, a bit unsure if he's allowed to or not.

 

"The hive master is an incredibly honourable foe," I say, "As a gift for my birthday, he's ordered a three day ceasefire and gave me the ability to reverse the effects of the curse on one of the preservers."

"Even the blackest hearted beings have a tiny shred of kindness within them." Tenebrae says.

 

Rineth signals him over.
"Come on!"


Thirteen feels a telepathic link attempt to reach him.

The preserver's eyes open wide as Xlentia nods at Tenebrae's comment.
"I think it's safe to say I'm as surprised by that as everyone else." She says.

 

Crystal slithers on over next to Rineth, staying next to him.

I seem to be focusing on something else first, but then focus on the connection.
"Hello?"

 

Rineth smiles, keeping an eye on Crystal.

"Hey, this is Emerald. Can you come over to the Shadow Realm? We're throwing a surprise party for Aj and I kind of ran out of time to clue you in first."

 

Crystal tries to get a view of what's going on.

"Oh okay. I'm just going to check on Amethyst first, then I'll be there."
I stand up in the library, closing the book I was reading and putting it back.

 

"Well...I don't know who to use it on. Everyone is equally cursed." I say.

"What about that headless one we saw? Her life must be pretty torturous." Shadow Stephanie says.

"What about Emerald? She's been really helpful to us." Katie suggests, smiling at Emerald after.

"You decide on your own, Aj. Don't let the others cloud your judgement." Artemis says to me, smiling.

 

Aj's opened a present, and the preservers seem to be stunned by the contents.

"Okay, thanks. Sorry about the late notice."

"You don't have to use it right away." Rineth says.
"You've got other presents, too." Xlentia says happily.

 

"What's happening?"
Crystal whispers to Rineth.

"No problem. See you in a bit."
I head out the library, going to where I left Amethyst.
