I have a theory that I'd like to share on inflation, and I'd like to ask for opinions


I've heard alot about 'decreasing' inflation by getting rid of mythics thru IB or detlas trashbin, and whatnot, but I dont think this is true.
The reason why inflation is bad is, prices go up.
Another thing that makes prices go up is supply and demand -

If you have a small supply of an item (stratiformis for example) and a huge demand (yep) the prices go up because people are willing to pay more for an item.
If you have a large supply of an item and a large demand, prices are less than the previous scenario.

So my theory is, by getting rid of mythics, you are only increasing the prices of that item as there is a smaller supply of said item on the market.

An example of this would be the recent Disco boom. Discos used to be worth 70% more than the current values, but since so many were found, they flooded the market. Sure, theyre still expensive, but not as expensive as before.

you are correct, mythics aren't at fault for the inflation as they didn't actually being in any new le into the circulation

 

Destroying mythics to stop inflation is total bullshit. You don't take any emeralds out of circulation. You only make the economy worst by making mythic prices higher.

technically mythics help stop inflation, because most people reroll their mythics a few times. In outrageous situations they reroll it 4 or 5 times. That's 4+ stacks of le gone from circulation.

 

Not really, like you said, people only re roll mythics in a few situations. Most of the time people only do it once or twice. Given how rare mythics rare, destroying them would be way worse.

 

most mythics are rerolled plenty of times. Hop into the trade market and look at all the mythics that are being sold. Most of them have been rerolled once or more.

 

Still, I doubt most have been re rolled at least 4 times, correct me if I'm wrong. The demand for mythics is just too high to justify the rerolls, especially since some mythics can go for 50+ stacks while a 4th or 5th re roll costs a stack or two or three

 

they should create currency where 1 Block is worth 64LE so we don't have to worry about stacks filling up our inventories

So we should get a money sink that's also a good way to get rich? I think two good options would be gambling and investments where you can make lots of money but overall it takes money out of circulation

 

I always thought mythics were meant to stop market peaks and make sure the rich were still putting LE into the market.

Inflation really started (I think) because Gavel had an insane amount of monetary quest rewards (regular duping also contribute a bit). When the amount you gain through questing goes from 10 LE (im actually not sure what it was, but it was low) to over a stack, there is sure to be an insane amount of inflation.

Who told you it was because of mythics.

 

the amount you got from quests went from around a stack of le pre gavel to around 2 stacks.
tbh w/o mythics a lot of people wouldn't spend their le so they did increase inflation a bit

 

What opinion could I have? Inflation is an inevitability of all economies that aren't directly and forcibly manipulated by an outside force. I'll join the debate when there is a debate to be had.
