Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

The tower is mostly concealed by a forest in the lower valley, though it's quite noticeable from a distance.

 

Alice looks for the entrance, careful not to tear her parasol on the trees.
Once she finds it, she knocks.

 

A man in a dark cloak with a thick purple beard and purple hair under a wizard's hat opens the door.

"Alice, come in. I foresaw your arrival." The wizard says, stepping aside for Alice.

 

"I... Won't comment just yet." She says, entering. "Thanks."

 

There's a large cauldron of bubbling green liquid to the left of the entry way, pleasant smells coming from it as fire burns below. To the right, there's a circle of runes, candles lit around it. At the back of the tower, there appears to be a library stacked with books, and a trapdoor between some bookshelves.

"I'm sure you may have noticed that things are a little different around here," The wizard says, walking over to the circle of runes. With a click of his fingers a white orb forms, one of the faeries Alice saw within. She appears to be quite confused and scared, pressing against the edges of the orb in an attempt to escape, "This is a faerie, as I'm sure you know. They seem to have inhabited the old community centre in the villager's absence, though I'm unsure as to why. However, the fact they showed themselves to you willingly is quite something."

 

"More than a little different, but that's all fun and games for an ex-detective." She says. "So... what did you wish to tell me? Seeing this fairy does raise more questions, though..."

 

"I believe there's something special about you. Your presence in this town was more than just chance, I believe it was fated to happen," The wizard says, the orb disappearing with the faerie with another click of his fingers, "Though, I am curious if you saw anything interesting while you were in the community centre. I realize a few fairies showed themselves to you, but did they perhaps give you anything? Say anything to you?"

 

"I'll tell you if you release that fairy." She says, still mildly uneasy.

 

"I have, I only needed her as an example to show you." The wizard says.

 

Alice hands him the note.
"A golden scroll with an image of a tree on it lay within the ruins. I copied it."

 

The wizard takes it, looking at it.

"Interesting, give me a moment." The wizard says, before disappearing with a flash.

 

Alice waits, glancing around.

 

The wizard enters through the doorway after a short while.

"Very interesting. I haven't seen something like that before." The wizard says, walking over to his cauldron and inspecting it.

 

"I sent it off to the Shadow Realm as well, hoping someone might be able to decipher it." Alice says. "I also got some sort of offering, consisting of a peace sign and jewels. I left it be, since I think it's a bribe."

 

"That's...odd. Was it signed?" The wizard asks, looking into his cauldron curiously.

 

I go back into the portal room, checking on Maralune once again.

 

"No. It simply was a piece of paper with a peace symbol on it under some kind of offering. I found it in my yard as I came down here."

Still reconstructing, and you still almost step on Ytir and Gau as you enter.

 

"Odd." The wizard comments, before taking out a potion bottle and filling it with the liquid in his cauldron.

"Here, drink this. My cauldron is infused with the fruits of essences of the valley, I believe this may assist you."

 

I smile, then go back through the portal, relaxing in the Void Palace.


"Are you looking for anything in particular?"
Crystal finally pipes up, asking Linoa.

 

Alice hesitates before drinking it.
"I shouldn't be so untrusting. I have gods on my side..." She mumbles.

"I was actually hoping that maybe this world would have a relic." Linoa says, still maintaining speed.
