Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

Alice waves back, opening her parasol as she tries to hastily find the Skyrail station before sunset.

 

The station is quite easy to find on the way back to Alice's home, but the sun is close to beginning to fall behind the mountains.

 

Alice checks for the nearby hut, knocking on the door once she finds it.

 

There's a bit of commotion within the hut, before a long haired air guardian with large white wings opens the door slightly, before slamming it shut quickly with a gust of air once she notices Alice, a look of fear on her face.

 

"I-I'm sorry..." Alice says. "I'm not going to hurt you, or anyone... I just wanted to meet my new neighbors."

 

"Y-You're the new r-resident?" The air guardian asks nervously, peeking out from the door slightly.

 

"Yes, I moved in this morning. I was hoping my race could be looked past, but... maybe not." Alice sighs, looking at the broken Skyrail instead of the door.

 

"S-Sorry, I thought you'd come to kill me," The air guardian says, opening the door, "I'm Gail. I used to run the Skyrail before it broke down."

 

Alice seems a bit relieved, turning to Gail.
"I suppose my kind is known for that... if it's any comfort, report any shadow problems to me and word will get straight to their royalty." She offers.
"However, I was just at the bar, and I was asking about the Skyrail a bit before I decided to go straight to the source."

Pause.
"Before that, though, my name's Alice. It's nice to meet you." She says, offering a handshake.

 

Gail accepts the handshake.

"What do you want to know?" Gail asks.

 

"The people I talked to missed the Skyrail rides, and I was wondering if you could tell me what went wrong. After that, I have two more questions that go hand-in-hand."

 

"I don't know why, but one day the Skyrail started breaking down, and eventually it all sort of fell apart. I tried to put it back together, and I contacted the other stations, but it seems to be the same across the other stations. Something ended up breaking the motors and control panels." Gail explains.

 

"There's a lot of mystery in this town, that's for sure... maybe retired is a strong word for me..." Alice mumbles.
"Sorry, this leads me to my next question; do you have a map of the routes the Skyrails took?"

 

"Uh, sure, just give me a moment." Gail says, heading back into her shack for a short while before returning with a map of the area, Skyrail routes marked on it.

 

"Third, I have an idea that may let you at least operate between this station and the next, but... Are you open to working with a dragon?"

 

"Aren't those an endangered species?" Gail asks.

 

"Long story short, not where I'm originally from." Alice says. "I'm not saying we replace the whole thing with dragons, but you could at least get people back and forth with one. I'd hope that would give some time for figuring out how to go about reconstruction."

 

"I'm not really sure...I'll think about it." Gail says, unsure.

 

"Fair enough. The sun's probably getting to my head by now anyways... I'd love to help you rebuild the Skyrail, but there are a few other things I'm looking into. Would you mind me coming back for another talk in a few days... and a few hours earlier?"

 

"Sure." Gail says, smiling.
