Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

"These vegetables are pretty good quality, strange how someone would just leave them down here." Shadow Stephanie says, pulling up a few potatoes.

 

"Don't pull them all up. Someone lives down here. I'd rather find out who than starve them out and never know." Alice urges.

 

"Hm, alright. I guess someone's living under your house." Shadow Stephanie says, shrugging.

 

I check if any of the trees in the forest bear fruit.

 

"There's no other reason for there to just be crops growing here. Thanks for tipping me off that this is down here, though." Alice says.

Some do, but not many.

 

"I guess so," Shadow Stephanie says, "So, is there anything you wanted to show me while I'm here?"

 

I pick one off, checking it for properties and eventually squishing it.

 

It's firm, but as you push it, juice comes out what seems to be pores in the fruit's skin.

"Not really... figured you'd be coming over to deliver paperwork and have a cup of tea."
Pause.
"Can you let Aj know he's welcome over here too? I enjoyed traveling with your group, but I don't want to stay when I'm making things tense."
Alice seems to have one other thing on her mind, but is holding back asking.

 

I cut it open, seeing and feeling what's inside.

 

"Sure, I'll let him know." Shadow Stephanie says, smiling.

 

"Thanks." Alice says, also unable to hide a smile as she turns to look out in the distance.
"You know... part of me hopes that view never gets old."

The flesh is somewhat spongy.

 

"It won't, there's always new things to discover." Shadow Stephanie says, turning to look out in the distance too.

 

I briefly look around, seeing if all the fruit is the same.

 

"Even if it does, I suppose I'll have time to get another job here and move again if needed." Alice says, mostly to herself. "I could go for a few years of relaxation, though..."

It seems to indeed all be the same, though some fruits are more ripe than others.

 

"Anyway, I should be off. It's been nice having some tea with you." Shadow Stephanie says.

 

I head back through the portal, checking out Xyrnal.

 

"Yeah, I'm still introducing myself. Thanks for coming over." Alice says, standing up and heading for the stairwell up.

The portal is in the forest, but neither the fields nor forest have much wildlife visible at all.

 

I check for fruits.

 

Nothing bigger than a cherry, and not many.

 

Going back through the portal, I check Entelp, not expecting much.
