"Good thing you can fight because you certainly don't have anything else down." Amber scoffs.


"Yeah... You won't care, but tell Katie that's Liv's heart. She'll know what that means."

 

"Got anything else to say or are you going to shut the fuck up?" Shadow Stephanie asks.


"Ok..." I say, slightly suspicious.

 

Amber smiles, then leaves as her body explodes into blood and flesh, all of it vanishing - lance included.


"It'll be fine. It's just someone's heart." Sivius says. "Just don't eat it. It's not made of flesh."

 

"Ug, me caveman Shadow. Me see heart. Me eat it. Ug." I say in a stupid voice.

 

"I've watched your past performances. You could've fooled me. Now, come on, stop fooling around in the middle of a hallway. You have a crappy reputation to save the universe with. Or something." Sivius says, almost emotionless as he shrugs. "I just want to get back to Shadow Stephanie."

 

"Mmhmm, she sure loves it when you get absolutely hammered and stumble in on her drunk off your ass." I say, opening a portal below me to fall into the Realm of Shadows, closing it quickly after.

 

Sivius throws in a letter addressed to Shadow Stephanie into the portal as well.


Alice walks up to her house, tired.
"Any mail from within the palace?" She asks, leaving the door open as she tosses something into her fireplace.

 

Sivius almost misses, but it manages to get through.


"A few advertisements and notifications, two of which are by royalty." One of the guards says.

 

He turns and leaves, letting out a sigh of relief.


"I'll take the two by royalty. Burn the rest or give them to me for burning, whatever's easier." Alice says, opening and paging through one of many filing cabinets.

 

"All of them are by the door." The guard says.

There's a neatly stacked pile of letters by the door.

 

Alice takes the two by royalty and shovels the rest straight into her fireplace.

 

One of the letters appears to be in an envelope, while the other just appears to be another advertisement.

 

Alice scans the ad while opening the envelope, then reading the letter.

 

The ad just seems to be about the robot fighting against 'Grand Champion Peridot', asking willing engineers to create robots for a rather hefty prize.

The letter inside the envelope reads:
"Dear homeowner Alice,

There have been some recent changes to your accommodation. After a review, it has been found you are no longer in immediate danger, and are no longer entitled to a heavily guarded home within the walls of the Shadow Palace. However, your current guards and home will not be removed or changed. There is a new condition for you to keep your home that comes with these changes should you wish to keep it.

A monthly payment of three diamond and five hundred gold (3d 500g) will be required. This can be paid at the start or the end of each month, and you may pay twice the amount in advance to cover the next month. If payment is not received one week after the month's end, then you will no longer be able to stay within your home.

Payment can be given to the guards outside of your home. If you have any queries, please visit the rental agency in the Shadow Palace. If you feel something is wrong or should be changed, then please order a meeting with the king, queen or royal assistant.

It seems the letter was just marked as sent by royalty, probably to be given higher priority.

 

Alice drops seven diamond at the door before tossing the letter in the fireplace.
"Has anything remotely relevant happened in the palace since I've been out?" She asks the guards.

 

"Nothing much." The guard says, the diamond disappearing.

 

"Can you look into real estate on Earth for me in my absence? Or send someone else to? I'm going to want a place that isn't monitored 24/7 because it makes me feel caught. And I hate feeling caught."

 

"If you don't want us here, we can leave. We were told to be here to keep you safe." The guard says.

 

"I've found, like, four hidden cameras in my house. I don't own any cameras."

 

"Those...shouldn't be in there. I'll alert the higher ups of this." The guard says.
