Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

Stephanie seems to be lost in her own world, humming to herself lightly as she stares at the doll she weaves with focused eyes.


I try my best to continue working toward the relic, determined.

 

"I don't know what they were about, but this stuff is saying that we've got blood spilled here across eight different time ranges."

The more you go, the harder it is to see the relic.

Amethyst interrupts that, tackling Stephanie out of Shadow Stephanie's grasp.
Amber tries to block, but she also gets bashed aside, reforming her splattered body.

Suddenly, a section of web you're working on collapses, and Amethyst seems to have knocked Stephanie into the webs.

 

Crystal thinks.
"That's a lot of wars just to fight here."

I check how close I can get to the relic without being in the webs.

 

Amethyst feels herself being tackled too, before her limbs seize up, her arms being forced behind her back as Stephanie puts the doll's arms behind its back.

"Bad. You belong to me now." Stephanie says sternly.


Artemis aims and fires a shot at Amethyst, a vine trailing out from it. As soon as the arrow gets close to Amethyst, it curves around, the vine following, and circles Amethyst, causing the vines to tighten up around her.

 

Amethyst struggles, tearing the vines before going limp.

Amber lets out a sigh of relief.

"Exactly... I might ask the locals about this later. It's abnormal, if nothing else."

Aj's closer, and it's already difficult to get through the webs without shapeshifting.

 

"Okay. Well, let's get going again."

I put the tree to the side, and just let them do their thing.

 

Stephanie bends the doll's knees, forcing Amethyst to kneel.


Artemis gives me energy as I continue working my way toward the relic, focused on getting to it.

 

Amethyst does, but her arms fall from behind her back, even though the voodoo doll's arms are still behind.

A dozen more cuts and you can get to it.
It... seems to be a beating crystal heart.

Linoa nods, taking off and scanning the countryside, looking at the ruined mountains and castles strewn about.

Aj eventually gets deep enough to be out of sight, Stephanie messing with Amethyst via voodoo doll.

 

Crystal looks at what there is to see as well.

I walk towards Stephanie, while looking for Aj in the webs.

 

Linoa stops as she notices what seems to be a giant dog.
"...What?"

Stephanie's on a web,

 

"Let's get a closer look?"
Crystal asks, curious as well.

I get as close as I can without being on the webs or flying.

 

Linoa descends, and "giant, dirty dog" is the best way to describe it. Its fur is covered in dirt and dust, and it seems to be sleeping.

You can get pretty close, seeing that Stephanie's on the first layer of webs.

 

"...Should we touch it?"
Seems to be Crystal's first response.

 

"I... don't know. There's some old saying about letting a sleeping dog lie." Linoa says quietly.

 

"I thought that was just a... umm... just a phrase?"
Crystal matches Linoa's tone of voice, but can't seem to find the word to complete his sentence.

 

"Surrender. Of course, if one of the two of us doesn't surrender and dies, then, no problem."

 

Stephanie increases the strength she holds the voodoo doll's arms, the magic becoming more powerful.


I double my strength and pace, eager to get to it.

 

"I know it's just a phrase, but everything's gotta come from somewhere."

"Sounds good. Are we allowing magic as well?"

Amethyst doesn't even try to move out of the grip, but it seems to start to quickly weaken as she slowly begins struggling again.

Once it's in your hands, you...
...don't feel anything special. At least you've got three relics, now.

 

Artemis sends a telepathic message to everyone.

"We've got the relic, return to the Realm of Shadows immediately." Artemis says.

Stephanie lights the voodoo doll on fire before Shadow Stephanie teleports her away. Amethyst feels like she herself is the one on fire, despite no actual damage being done.

 

Being on fire doesn't seem to bother her.


Amber didn't make it back, but she didn't teleport with you. Alice, however, is present back at the Realm of Shadows.

"Sorry, Sapphire wanted me for something. Did you find it?" She asks, sounding weary.
