Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

"Fly around a bit more? There's gotta be something else interesting, right?"

I fly around, trying to get a better point of view.

 

"Yeah... I'm moving." Linoa says, taking off back over the mainland, flying over the Darklands.
"This place looks... fairly battle worn."

The new angle and settling dust lets you see them looking down into the crater of webs.
You can see a tiny red glint at the bottom...

 

"Yeah..."
Crystal says, looking around for himself.

I fly down lower, assessing the situation more.

 

"Aj, the relic's down there! Cut through those webs and we can get it!" Artemis says urgently, pointing to the relic.

"Aye aye." I say, flying down into the pit and hacking my way through the webs I encounter.

 

The first web you hack leads to Amethyst mauling you, Shadow Katana getting knocked out of your hand by a shockwave, followed with an ear-splitting sonic boom.

Amber cringes.
"H-hey... remember, her only sense is touch. She's gonna leave a mark if you set off any vibrations through her webs." She shouts.

There are some fields covered in black ash and red blood. Linoa flies over slowly, for some reason.

Aj flies down and cuts a web, but the first one he cuts results in Amethyst mauling him clean off course.

 

I teleport out of the way with Artemis, re-summoning Shadow Katana to my hand.

"Stephanie, burn the web!" I shout to Stephanie.

Stephanie throws a fireball down at the webs below her.

 

"Something wrong?"

I keep watching, flying down lower.

 

The fireball ignites the webs on fire... and Amethyst.
It doesn't seem to be helping at all, you just have a ticked off headless thing spraying burning webs in the sky, attempting to track you.

Fortunately, they don't seem to burn forever, and after about a minute you're back to the default problem at hand.

"This battleground seems almost sacred." Linoa says, descending.

Amethyst starts throwing webs skywards, albeit completely uncoordinated.

 

"Whaddya mean?"

Dodging the webs, I see if there might be a way to get Amethyst out of there.

 

"Here, come down for a minute." Linoa says, landing and taking a few soil samples.

Considering she rushed Aj faster than the speed of sound, sending in a sacrifice is the only apparent way.

 

I think for a bit.

"Stephanie, mess with the webs to distract her while I work on getting to the relic!" I shout to Shadow Stephanie, who nods in response.

I start hacking away at the webs again for a short while, before Shadow Stephanie starts shaking the webs about violently on the opposite end as I stop for a while.

 

"Okay... why?"
Crystal does as told.

I knock down a tree, trying to stick it into the webs to mess Amethyst up.

 

Amethyst mauls you, then leaps skywards before dive-bombing Shadow Stephanie.

Linoa takes a bottle of green fluid before pouring a drop on each sample.
"There's an entire history of battle here. Some bloodstains are much older than others."


After dive bombing Shadow Stephanie, she goes over and shreds the tree into splinters.

"What's the green stuff?"

I throw the rest of the tree into the edge of the web, hoping the break it, then going to another tree to do the same thing at a different part of the web.

 

I try my best to dodge the attacks as I continue to hack away at the webs once Amethyst leaves.

Shadow Stephanie darts out of the way of Amethyst, causing some more commotion elsewhere on the web.

 

She ends up tackling you through a web, though gets a bit sidetracked by Thirteen dropping trees onto the web, allowing you to make a second full cut.

Amethyst seems to at least be able to think, trying to ignore Shadow Stephanie.

"It'll tell me the age of the blood." Linoa says, collecting a green, lime, and teal fluid from the bottom of the dirt.
"The darker the blue, the older."

More splinters, but you are distracting Amethyst.

 

Crystal watches to see the result.

I take another tree, but instead of just pushing down on the web, I run it along the sides, trying to break the web.

 

As she's carried around by her Shadow, Stephanie delicately works on a voodoo doll of Amethyst, making sure to be as accurate as possible as she quietly sows the doll's features; the head already cut off and discarded.

I continue to slash through the webs toward the relic as Shadow Stephanie tries to counter the vibrations with even more powerful shakes.

 

One thing you didn't quite account for is the fact that the webs aren't meant for carrying other fallen webs. A gust of wind rushes by as a part of the edge of the crater collapses into a pile of web.

Amber, worried, flies off towards Stephanie.
"You're just going to use that to... not kill her, right?" She asks, worried.

Some samples are darker, others lighter.
"This suggests... 8 different wars, all on the same field."

She doesn't shred it, too distracted with Aj and Shadow Stephanie, but you cause part of the web structure to collapse.

 

"...Woah. All for just this?"

I run around the web with the tree, attempting to collapse it.
