Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

The two half-spiders look at you, confused.
One goes to bring you a teacup before the other holds them back, watching you nervously.

They both seem to be glancing at each other, some sort of sign language in use.

 

"You wouldn't know where say, a relic or some headless person who's walking around would be, would you?" I ask.

 

They turn to each other, signing again.

About a minute later, one turns to you and shakes their head 'no.'

 

"Oh...ok." I say, flying out of the pit.

 

You end up breaking a few webs on your way out, one of the two hurrying to repair them before the entire pit of webs collapses in on itself.

"What... did I just witness...?" Amber asks quietly.

 

"I don't even know." I say, continuing to explore.

 

As the group goes deeper into the forest, the amount of creatures thicken, as do those willing to hold their ground.
Only Artemis is able to tell that the group is, in fact, going deeper into the forest.

 

Artemis tries to get a better view of the forest from the trees, hoping to see something that might point the group toward the relic.

 

Unfortunately, it seems that the webs are up in the trees, too. Some of them seem to give Artemis deliberate blind spots, but the ground group can't see anything out of the norm, either.

Except for even bigger pits of webs.

 

Shadow Stephanie and I check the pits while Artemis and Stephanie look for any hints on the ground or in the trees.

 

The pits lead to unhappy spiders, but Artemis does notice one thing; the group's heading towards an utterly massive crater. Web filled, but the web is woven in a pattern rather than randomly strewn-about bundles of thread.

 

"Hey guys, I think we've found it!" Artemis shouts, pointing in the direction of the crater.

Shadow Stephanie and I leave the pits we're in, Shadow Stephanie picking up Stephanie and flying toward the crater with me, Artemis keeping up through the trees.

 

"Hey, get airborne." Amber says, looking at the ground.

 

I fly over to Artemis and pick her up, while Shadow Stephanie stays in the air with Stephanie.

 

I place the quiver on my back and grab three arrows.
"Ready when you are."

 

"Don't worry about it. It's probably nothing important."

Going into the clearing, I fly out, seeing if anything follows.

 

The ground crumbles from beneath you as Amber grapples onto a tree with a chain of lances.
"I'd say if you're looking for Amethyst, we're in the right place."

"But if it's hidden, then it's inherently more interesting than something you can just find!" Linoa complains, determined to get in.

Seems Aj and company walk below you now, with a new draconian at that.

They flick the chainblades around a bit before getting into a combat stance.
"Are we going to death or surrender?"

 

"Maybe they just want to be alone. Wouldn't it be kinda scary if someone broke through your town's shield, even if they weren't going to attack you?"

I continue to fly over them, keeping a good eye on them.

 

Artemis scans around for the relic while Shadow Stephanie and I keep everyone in the air.

 

The webs still block the scan, but Artemis can see a small red glint deep into the pit.
However, it's in a solid wall of webs.

"Fair point. Where to next, then?"

They fly up, breaking through the canopy a bit as the ground falls out from under their feet. The dust obscures your vision.
