Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

Amber hesitates.
"Probably. I'd need to scan my memory for which one that is, but there's only one sibling I hate."

 

"Who?" Stephanie asks, finally getting up.

 

"Soph. Always gets in the way, and she can't do any damn thing on her own! She's not even good with actual combat magic."

 

"Sapphire?" I ask, guessing.

 

"Oh, right. You probably never fucking see the wimp. Yes, Sapphire." Amber grunts.

 

"We should probably divert our attention back to getting the relic instead of getting sidetracked." Shadow Stephanie says flatly.

"Right. Want to tag along then?" I ask Amber.

 

"Why not? Maybe I can get another headless sibling while I'm at it." She nods.

 

The group heads away from the city, Artemis keeping an especially keen eye out for any forests.

 

There are two, one to the north and south. Both look pretty pitiful compared to normal trees, but considering this is the underworld, Artemis doesn't really have a baseline.

"So, why're you trying to kill Amethyst?"

 

"Not necessarily kill, but if she gets in our way, I might have to take action." I say, following Artemis as she leads the group to the northern forest.

 

"Okay... then why are you trying to not necessarily kill Amethyst?" Amber asks again, still confused.

The first thing to note are that there are creatures everywhere. Hellhounds, harpies, half-spiders, and ents account for most of what you can see. Most scatter, but many stay and stare.

 

"Because we're trying to get a relic from her." I say, the group exploring the forest with weapons drawn.

 

"That's so unlike her. Especially when she can't see it."

The creatures give you space, but many mark a line where they deem is their territory and not yours. Fortunately, that line is flexible and they seem to tolerate you more as long as you keep moving.

 

Artemis takes to the trees, feeling more comfortable leaping between them with her bow at the ready instead of walking on the ground.

 

The harpies in particular keep a sharp eye on her, a few visibly nervous.

After a few minutes, webs! Webs everywhere. Two big pits with webs, and one with a fallen tree and hellhound corpses next to a broken tea set.
And, of course, webs. Just less of them.

 

Shadow Stephanie checks over the webs for any signs of something useful, or if possible, the relic.

 

Seems the webs interfere with scanning, and the only red thing visible on any of the webs is blood.

 

I grow a pair of Shadow Wings and jump down one of the pits, slowing my fall with the wings.

 

You have to become a blob of darkness to fall without touching a web. Regardless, it seems you've interrupted a half-spider tea party...?
Awkward.
