Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

Crystal steadies the arrow more, keeping it aligned with the bow and his aim.

Content, I go back, looking around for a market place or shops.

 

It keeps pulling away from the bow.
"Keep the bow tilted to the side just a bit, and put the arrow on that side so gravity helps it stay on the bow." Linoa suggests.

The commercial district is where the group was, and there's almost a shop for everything.

 

"Okay."
Crystal says, doing as told.

I find myself a weapons shop.

 

The arrow stops flopping around.
"Now, hold the bow in front of your face and pull the string back to about your ear... or at least, the side of whatever head you're using. And once you're pointing the bow at a target, let go."

There are a few, one with novelty weapons meant more for show than combat, one with basic melee weapons and a few throwing daggers, A bow and projectile shop, and a fourth that smiths everything right there in front of the customer.

 

Crystal carefully does as instructed, taking his time in aiming correctly.

I opt to go into the smithy.

 

He seems to be really shaky, and his first shot misses.
Linoa hands him another arrow.
"Well, at least you got it to go forward."

The smith's a gorgon, glancing at you through shades.
"Morning, robot. Can I help you?" They ask, snake-hair acting as a clamp for the blade they're working on.

 

"It's a start."
Crystal says, taking the arrow, although still having two in him, and aiming once more.

"Yeah. I'm looking for a new weapon. Something heavy. I take it you make heavier weapons better than the other shops."
I say.

 

Crystal's still a bit shaky, it seems.
"It's not backwards."

"Heavy? We looking for a blade or something blunt?" They ask, a few other snakes in their "hair" grabbing a pen and some kind of stone-paper tablet.

 

"Huh?"
Crystal asks, a bit less focused.

"Blunt. Although, I figure now's a good time to ask what the currency is here."

 

"Your first shot didn't go backwards." Linoa says as the arrow falls onto the ground.

"Gold dust, but if you put out a good word for me I might take trades. Business isn't great because people don't take chances around a stonegazer." They say, snakes scribbling a pattern of marks on the tablet. "You thinking mace, hammer... what?"

 

"Oh, right."
Crystal says, just taking one of the arrows from inside him, then focusing on drawing the arrow once more.

"It seems like a good place to have a business, considering none of the other weapon shops seemed to have a wide variety. As for the weapon, I'm thinking more of a hammer."

 

Crystal's a bit less shaky, but the target's still probably not getting hit.

More scribbling.
"Right. You old-fashioned or you into wires?" They ask, bashing the blade to delay your answer.

 

Crystal steadies himself and releases the arrow, trying anyways.

"Pardon? I'm not familiar with wires."
Pause.
"On weapons."
I clarify.

 

He hits the edge.
"Well, you hit not the ground. Good enough for a bomb arrow."

The gorgon puts the blade into a cauldron, letting it sit in the liquid.
"Kinda surprises me, but my opinion doesn't mean much there." They say, heading to a back room before handing you a spear, three sliders and a button on the handle.
"This is basic stuff, but capacity. Things can only hold so much."

 

"Explosives cover a lot, huh."
Crystal says, picking up the arrow from the ground.

"Hm."
I note, taking and looking over the spear.
"Thanks for the example, but I think I'll take it old-fashioned."

 

"If you can't aim, work with siege. We don't care what we hit half the time."

"Can't blame you. Sucks when you electrocute yourself." They say, taking it back into the room and re-emerging.
"Spikes or no?"

 

"As long as it's not your allies, right?"

"On one side."
I decided after a few seconds of thinking.

 

"Obviously."

More scribbling.
"It'll be done in two days."

 

"Well, that's good."
Crystal says, knocking another arrow.

"48 hours or sometime in two days?"
I ask.

 

"Try to hit not the rim this time."

"Latter."
