Due to some controversy in the past about selling unided items, Id like to clear a few things up about IDing cost and how you can (partially) know what it will be before you ID it.
(If this violates any rules, pls let me know)

Selling unidentified items must be in agreement with the rule 15.

    15. Selling Unidentified Items

Selling unidentified Mythics is not allowed. Legendary and below is fine. If a player sells an unidentified item with a promise that it will be a certain item, and the item turns out to be a different item than is advertised, a refund must be given, as it would be considered scamming. Additional information is given in this thread.

    Basic Mathematical Knowledge

Now I hope you're familiar with basic graph theory which IDing cost is based on. The cost for iding stuff varies with its tier (unique, set, rare, legendary, mythic) so every tier has their own function.

The cost has 2 parameters, the 1st one being the constant cost that all items in its tier have and the variable cost that is dependent from its level (of the item).

    1.png
    8.png

The viewable cost is the cost you see when you first id it (from unided to ided, or pre-gameplay update id to id). Every sequential roll (called a reroll) will cost you 5 times the amount. A rereroll 25 times.
The constant cost is the base where technically the cost is for a level 0 item.
The dependant cost is dependant of the level. Multiply it by the level.

    Range of f.e. 96 to 92 will contain levels of 96, 95, 94, 93 but no 92.
This would belong to the range of 92 to 88.

You can of course calculate this the other way around as shown in the second equation.

If you get any fractions of this equation for cost (NOT FOR LEVELS), round upwards!
    Example: 141.3 turns into 142.

If you get any fraction of this equation for level (NOT FOR COST), round downwards!
    Example: 83.7 turns into 83.

And finally: The method used for rare and unique items was a linear regression.

    Unique

Remark: Some costs are identical so there is an uncertainity of -1 Level!

    Set

    Rare

    Legendary

    Mythic

I hope this clears things up for most people. I made a list of all mythic costs below (spoiler).

    7.png

    Mathematical Example

You've got a unidentified legendary chestplate around level 92 to 96.
You check the cost of iding it which is 534 emeralds.
    You use the parameters for legendary items c = 40, m = 5.2.

You'll go check on wynndata.tk what that could be: It is undoubtly Aquarius (level 95).

Let's do another one, a bit harder. You got an unidentified unique bracelet around level 80 to 84.
You check the cost of iding it which is 47 emeralds.
    You use the parameters for legendary items c = 5, m = 0.5.

You'll go check on wynndata.tk what that could be: There is none.
You revert rounding up by 1 level. Now it is level 83. It is undoubtly Squid Anklet.

    Flaws to this method

This method cannot differentiate between 2 items that have the same level and the same tier.
Such an example is the mythic wand Fatal and the mythic wand Warp. Both are level 99.

Unique and Rare items can have an uncertainity of -1 level due to latent rounding.

    Credits:
    - @dukioooo for running the entire calculation for the new ID costs (1.18) and providing me the data
    - mr_wolfgang for a few uniques
    - @Lord_He1mchen for a lot of set items
    - @Someone for a few set items

Similar guide does exist. Credit to @DerVillager here

Well it has 2 tiers and is discontinued. Ill add it and give credit still.
Nevertheless it lacks a lot of things so Ill leave my guide here. The hard part is unique and rare (possibly set). Legendary and mythic is rather easy to calculate.

Edit: Looking at it, it has about 15% of my guide. Additionally it was not annotated as a guide (but this might be because it hasnt existed yet).

Ill keep the wording of constant cost as it lies nearer to the mathematical term.

Yeah it's a great library. In my opinion it should be pinned so it is easier for people to find guides :)

I think @Moe_Ronickah would be interested in this.

I would like to note, for moe, that this is not a recent finding, the majority of the community has known this method for a long time, but only the exact cost/equation has been lost in time, still search-able but covered, at least until Salk recovered it.

Hope this helps your jugdment on some recent issues.
