"Lunacy is... mostly based on perspective."

Xlentia's curled up around Crystal, seeming concerned but trying to calm herself down with a conversation.

 

"A lot of things are."

Satisfied with my check, I make my way over to the library.

 

"Yeah... I guess so."

The library's almost completely empty, Emerald levitating in the middle as she seems to be reorganizing a few of the books.

 

Crystal just relaxes once more.

I don't mind Emerald, going into the portal to the Shadow Palace.

Angela seems a little less scared, nodding fearfully.

A new pair of guards block the gates to the palace, as usual.

"What's your business here?" One of the guards asks.

 

Xlentia lets out a sigh before resting her head on her front feet.
"I hate I can't do anything to help. I'd get singled out, but laying here acting like I'm helpless sucks."

The woman lowers her axe, offering Angela to sit on the dull end.

 

Angela nervously gets on, albeit a little confused.

 

"Is the king here?"
I ask, getting to the point.

"Well, it's safer here, isn't it? Nobody wants to see you hurt."

 

The woman lifts the axe with ease and rests it on her shoulder, Angela essentially sitting on her shoulder as she walks through the palace.
"I'd run, except I'm already suited up. There is no running in this." She says, kicking any closed doors open as she goes.

"Yeah, but nobody comes and plays with me. Super boring."

 

"Currently away on business. You can leave a message with us or see the second in command though." The guard says.

Angela just looks at Katie, nervous.

 

"Do you know where he went? I'd rather have a conversation with him."

"You can make portals. Can't you just explore worlds?"

 

"The most we can tell you is that he's currently away on business," The guard says, before glancing around and lowering his voice, "You've travelled with him, right? Surely you'd know where he's currently gone?"

 

Angela can't see through the rock.

Fifteen minutes later, the woman kicks down the door to the emergency operating room, setting her shield and Katie down on a stretcher.

"Hey, what the hell? This isn't the place for games!"
"Screw you and shut up. I'm Archangel Murel and in the name of the queen I order you to treat this patient right the hell now."

The nurse pauses before nodding.
"Sorry."
Murel bashes the stone, revealing an unconscious Katie as she's brought off into the emergency room.


"Sorry about that, miss." Murel says to Angela. "You want down now?"

"Not without being noticed and targeted."

 

"Not often. He does his own thing usually. It's probable that someone else knows, though."

"Oh. Right..."

 

Angela nods, scared.

"Listen, I can't tell you where he went, but you could probably find some other people in the palace who might," The guard says. The second guard glances over at him with a stern expression, and he clears his throat, raising his voice again "Though you're not exactly allowed to waltz into the palace without good reason. If you're here to see the royalty, you're out of luck. If not, why are you here then?"

 

Murel sets her axe on the ground, taking her helmet off.
"Boy, it's hot in here. Probably late for rounds, but screw them."
She takes her gauntlets off.
"Well, you know my name... what's yours?" She asks, offering a handshake.

"So, I'm stuck." She sighs.

 

"A-A-Angela." Angela says, scared, weakly accepting the handshake.

 

"Not any good reason, if the king's not in. I'll be on my way then."
I say, starting to leave.

"I guess so."
Crystal thinks.

 

"May your travels be safe." The second guard says, serious.

 

I exit through the portal once more, going back into the library.
